I ve been developing for 3 years now and I want to tell you something. I was working on a RPG game with my friend, and then out of nowhere he pulls up to me and says :"Yo, can you script this?". It happend to be a simple quiz game with a horror feeling. I put almost 0% in that game and after we released it, it got thousands of views and hundreds of players. If your game is complex it doesn`t mean that it`s gonna blow up. Wish you the best luck and keep your self motivated!

I’ve been developing for 0 hours, and I just wanna say when you start out, remember to always start out otherwise you won’t start.

Edit: this is somehow good advice, i made this as a joke

Another tip that iim actively following is, Dont try to be too unique, or in better words, dont feel like everything you do for your game has to be completely new or different. Thats gonna make you want to quit after you realize theres just no way to be 100% unique. Theres millions of games on roblox, youre bound to do something someone has already done, and thats okay. Just focus on your execution of the thing instead of trying to compete.

I think there's also another important aspect that I don't think was mention: knowing yourself and your own capabilities. Some people might try making large projects right off the start or get too ambitious and become unmotivated or don't know how to do something. It's important to start at a point you can actually handle.

i suggest instead of making a game design document make a obsidian vault. that sounds weird to those who dont know but obsidion is a connected note program that allows basically everything that a game design document would but with the addition of markdown, checkboxes, a canvas (witch is basically a spreadsheat) aswell as linking documents and seeing every document you make for the vault in a node graph. it is beautiful for orginization and i highly recommend it.

My best advice here to contribute would be organizing all your thoughts. It's really easy to add on something just because it's cool or immediately go onto making things for the hell of it but you have to have some foundations first. Whether that'd be actual scripting knowledge or getting a scripted foundation in or planning it out with something like Google Slides which was most helpful to me.

for my game idk how to really describe it, so heres what im planning to make the description: “You wake up in a strange room, as you try to leave you discover a long hallway. As you continue walking, you realize that this hallway seems to be going on forever, and you keep hearing a strange voice.. Can you make escape? Even if there is one..” its not finalized yet, but this is kinda explains what the game is.

Im working on a game right now, heres my team:
Me (only one that knows how to code and has never worked on a game)
My friend (has never worked on a game)
My other friend (has never worked on a game)
And they are also brothers so only one of them at once but there is a big positive thing about our group, we have amazing ideas and we work well together, we will be able to make a good game if we just dont give up

As a verified game owner I like most of what was said here but there is a lot more to game design. This is a brief introduction, but you all will have a lot to learn to lead successful teams or even as a solo dev. Good job on this brief introduction.

Thank you so much. Whenever I tried making a game I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and it became very overwhelming and confusing so I just gave up. I’m definitely going to use your advice so credits to you if I actually make a decent game that gets players ❤😂

I was watching this and loving all of the product development and incremental delivery notes you're giving. Solid basis for success. Get that MVP and iterate on it. Pivot or persevere. All the right ways to look at this stuff. Well done!
