Great video. Gives me lots to think about. Thanks 🙏

This may be the best defense I have heard yet. Coming from a reformed Baptist.

Toby, I think you really touched on the point and I thank you for trying to make clear the sacerdotal distinction you hold to while admitting children without examination. I also appreciate the acknowledgement that your position is more closely aligned with Reformed Baptist than the historic Presby view. I think you hit the nail on the head with the comparison of the Amen. It is one thing to teach a child how to pray and give an amen after the prayer, it is another thing to require a child to offer prayer to something they cannot affirm is real or for that child to express who or what prayer is or who or what they are praying too. The bar should be low, but the bar should not simply be baptism. Baptism is performed without consent, if communion is performed in the same spirit examination per 1 Cor 11 is voided. There is then no distinctions between the potatoes and the meat or salad. The word preached must be ingested to make the bread ingested have significance. The words of a prayer to any god are not the words of a prayer offered to the Living God.

I still disagree with the position, but Toby does an amazing job laying out his arguments -- I dare say -- from Scripture. I believe it's still misapplied passaged but this is the shortest and clearest video on the subject and anyone who is studying this position ought to watch this.

Thanks for doing this, Toby. My family and I are part of a new mission church in Ontario, Canada. It's been such a blessing to us!

I thought the same exact thing when he gave the analogy of mashed potatoes! This compromise on insisting on paedocommunion as part of what it means to be apart of the CREC very much concerns me about the longevity of the CREC distictives. And yes absolutely, withholding the means of grace from the little ones says volumes to them. This ought not be! Forbid them not! Our Lord says. This accommodation for the baptists pastors isn't a good thing at all!
The CREC is a Presbyterian denomination, at least it ought to be....

Great video and another great defence of Paedocommunion.

So in Credocommunion circles, are pregnant women denied communion?
As a former baptist, I was convinced of Paedocommunion first. But I also love the CRECs approach because I find it offensive that a denomination should make membership requirements based on credo/paedo baptism/communion, eschatology, or any other heavily debated matter of conscience/conviction that good Christians disagree on.

My husband brought to my attention the increased numbers of high profile people turning to Roman Catholicism lately. It is concerning. Not because of pardons baptism but because of the many foul heresies. Have you addressed the issue recently?

Love you, Toby, but totally disagree on the mashed potatoes. When children get passed by while their parents and others around them partake, it says something much more than missing on mashed potatoes. It's harmful to their faith. The analogy is more akin to the doctor who says my kids should get the jab. As a father, my duty is stronger to my child than to the elder.

This guy stays lost in the weeds, seems as if he lives in the weeds. I'd love to get to the point in society where this is an issue that should actually be important but we have a way to go and a lot of ground to take back before that can be the case.
This sort of relentless, obsessive inside baseball type focus and mindset helped get us to the point where we've fallen to. If you find yourself thinking and focusing on stuff like this, you aren't helping. Focus and attention is very limited to us humans. And every moment, every ounce of energy and focus you spend on stuff like this is one you can't spend on the 100, 000 other things that are infinitely more important and need to be prioritized and solved.
