I've been getting lots of questions about my Japanese Rice Fish (also known as Medaka here in Japan) as well as requests to show them more on video so here is a simple care guide.

Rice Fish are probably one of the hardiest and easy to care for fish in the aquarium hobby so it's really hard to go wrong with them. They can be kept indoors or outdoors, can handle cold or hot temperatures, and breed really easily.

I really hope to make more enjoyable and educational videos about Rice Fish and hope to keep more varieties in the future. I'd also love to do some Medaka farm/breeder tours but I have to search for them first.

Thanks for watching, Ryo

Good stuff, Ryo! I think Japanese Rice Fish is a market that people are very interested in but there's not a lot of information about outside of Japan. Educate us more on medaka!

I found some sparkly silver-blue medaka near me in the US and I was pumped! They were outrageously expensive and hard to find online. I have them in a cystal vase with loads of plants. When I can I stick it in an open window for direct sun, they start breeding so I think they like it. Thanks again for your videos, never would've known these guys existed without them!

Excellent care guide! Thank you so much! Ricefish are pretty cheap in Korea too but I recently travelled to America where they're so expensive! Idk why but they like to keep them in tanks there. I agree they do better outside. Plus, they look better from above anyway.

Your rice fish bowls are so nice! I live in Athens, GA, (US). Been trying to find rice fish at my local stores and even Atlanta. No one carries them! I've found them online, but they are expensive - $8 -20 each! Yes, would like to see a tour of the rice fish breeding area.

I found your channel recently in the last couple months. Thanks for the great content Ryo. I live in Missouri USA and we do not have anything near as amazing as the aquariums and fish you have shown us on this channel. Thank you and keep her going strong Ryo!!!

Hey, Ryo! Thank you from Seattle, WA. My wife and I just scored five platinum(?) Medaka for cheap ($5 ea vs. $65+ on ebay) for our paludarium and we're in love. Your video is so helpful-- now we're off to make a porch bowl pond!

Yay! A Medaka video!
Here in the states we call them container ponds😀 We have some crazy prices for medaka here but I got my Blue Miyuki Medaka for free from a friend. I like those really red ones as well.
Great video Ryo! Please do one on the Medaka farm. Some day I would like to see a Medaka farm for my self. My family and I were talking about where we are going to go first once we are vaccinated. Japan, Singapore, and Hawaii were high on the list.

Cheers,
Chris

Awesome new Medaka content from Sensei Ryo!🙏🙏🙌🙌 thanks for keeping so many of us around the world educated and engaged with keeping Medaka! I have finally two groups here in Barcelona: mixed “normal” strain, quite pretty to be honest, and Miyuki platinum, which are gorgeous. I’m dying to get some tricolors someday. Thanks, Ryo! Fantastic video!👌👍
