I had seen photos of this iconic bridge a million times and I was quite obsessed with it 😍
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country that truly surprised me, as I didn’t know much about it. There are a number of places to visit aside from Mostar, beautiful well-preserved castles and great nature sites ⛰️
As a foreign tourist, I also found it much more affordable than the other Balkan countries I’ve visited. The locals were super friendly even with a few language barriers.
The food was great 👌🏾 I tried some traditional stuffed cabbage at Divan. You can definitely see the Ottoman influence in the architecture, food and religion. Having just briefly been to Istanbul, I could see the resemblance in the market styles and the food.
In Mostar, you must visit the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque. It’s quite fascinating inside and you will get the best view of the Old Town and Bridge from the minaret. You must wear modest clothing to enter the mosque, covering your shoulders and legs (women and men). But don’t worry if it’s a summer day and you’re not wearing the right attire, the staff there was friendly, and they provided tourists with free garments to cover up.
