A little context about the ban on chewing gum in Singapore. Basically there is a train system(metro/subway for western countries) in Singapore known as the MRT (Mass Rapid Train). Every 4 minutes, a MRT arrives at the station at any given time. Once it arrives, there are metal doors that block the train door on the station. This is so people don’t accidentally trip and fall into the train tracks. But once the train arrives at the station, these metal doors on the station will automatically open to let customers in. Basically how gum was banned, was that some guy stuck the chewing gum onto the gap between the metal doors. When the train arrives at the station, the system tries to open all metal doors, but one metal door is unable to open because it is stuck together by chewing gum. As such, the system gets extremely confused on why the door can’t open and forces itself into shutdown. Nearly $10, 000 is spent just to fix the trains and get them back online. So the Singapore Government decides to take no risks and bans chewing gum in Singapore.

It's not illegal to build sandcastles in Spain, just some cities and towns forbids it. It's due to the maintenance of the beaches, specially in those that welcomes a huge amount of tourists every year, where some people just build castles of considerable size and become a burden for others and damages the very own beach. It's kinda common to build monuments made out of sand in summer and make a contest about it, it's even on the news.
