Newt Scamander may be austistic, probably on the Asperger's spectrum! He clearly showed evidence of being a high-functioning autistic, especially with his introverted personality, asocial behavior, distaste of human contact, and extreme fascination with one specific topic. For example, Newt never makes eye contact with another person in the films. He tries, but his eyes always dart off in another direction, even if he's having a fairly intimate conversation. His focus on his magical creatures makes so much sense when looked at through a lens like this. He clearly has trouble dealing with people and is simply more comfortable interacting with the various animals.

I got aspergers (and ADHD) The and I can recognize some of myself in him, especially the being more comfortable around animals than humans part. However I never saw him as asocial, he was pretty energetic and eager to talk with people, though his people skills were lacking a bit. I have personally gotten much better at being social and I'm no longer uncomfortable around people and I must say I recognize myself in how he interacts with people as well. However I didn't know struggle with eye contact was a symptom of aspergers, I've never experienced that.
