Nutrition Tier Lists: Drinks

Quick! Go get a glass of water!
Ok, now that you're back, drinks. Easily the most overlooked piece of the nutrition puzzle, especially as it pertains to weight loss. The things you can consume and not even know it while drinking is astonishing, and it's time we bring awareness to the liquid lifelines, and the fluid failures.

What I Would Change:
Addressing Diet Sodas and Artificial Sweeteners in general. I could have been more elaborate. I found way too much inconsistent information for me to give them a pass, and Diet Sodas offer no nutritional value anyway. However, a while after making this video I had to chance to look more into artificial sweeteners and find them to be a much less risky option. So in hindsight, I would move Diet Sodas up the C or D tier. However, I can't rank them any higher due to their lack of actual nutritional contribution.

Under the Milk section, Phosphorus is listed twice. The last dense one is supposed to be Potassium.

All nutrient data is pulled from the USDA's National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference.

So apparently there are a LOT of more unknown and obscure drinks that are more popular in certain areas and among certain people. So if you feel any of these should get a bit of a spotlight, leave them here. If y'all can come up with enough maybe this list will need a part 2!

This "water" drink seems to be very healthy, I think I should give it a try.

The moment he put green tea in A tier, I knew water will be all alone in the top tier.

When I was a kid, I thought that coffee was the adult beverage. As I got older and started drinking coffee in my teens, I discovered that actually, alcoholic drinks are the adult beverages, and couldn't wait to start drinking alcohol. Now I am an adult and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt... Water... Water is the adult drink. Drink more water.

Me mixing all the A-tier drinks into one giant SuperHealthDrink, drinking that all day every day, becoming functionally immortal

This guy HAS to do a bread tier list lol. I'd love to know what breads (rye, wheat, sourdough, etc.) or rice (jasmine, sushi, basmati, etc.) rank among

A wise man once told me don’t drink calories

I’d watch the hell out of an alcohol tier list. Not to push you down a dark path or anything…

The absolute biggest red flag in an adult is saying “I don’t like the taste of water”. It’s so incredibly harmful to have disdain for the single most important thing (other than air) to put in your body. It’s a big marker that you aren’t very active as well, because anyone who works out will tell you that water can taste like the tears of angels if you are thirsty enough.

Water has so many benefits thanks to its non-existent nutritional value. You cannot over-expose yourself to any vitamins, no matter how much you drink. It hydrates your mouth, promoting clean teeth, gums, and tongue. It can be consumed during any kind of fast with the only exception being fasts that specifically single water out. It can be sipped between bites during a meal to help stem appetite issues and overeating.

I could go on and on. It's legendary. Definitely deserves S tier.

I quit drinking soda for about a month, going on a month and a half of nothing but water and the very rare treat of fruit juice. The difference in my body has been immense.

As someone who works in a coffee shop, it’s INCREDIBLE just how people literally drink sugar. My drinks are so incredibly simple, literally just a latte in espresso and oatmilk, more or less because if I’m drinking espresso I actually want to taste the espresso and not added sugars

I'd l love to see a tier list on spices and condiments (peppers, cinnamon, saffron, curry, etc.), and another one on herbs used for cooking/favoring (mint, parsley, basil, tender grass, etc.).
People who care for their health trend to used a lot of those I think, and I know they have very rich nutrition benefits, so seeing those tier lists would be lovely.

I definitely think with the increased popularity of plant-based milks (soy, almond, oat, cashew, etc...) that would be worth talking about with the same "added sugar" caveats.

video idea:
make a meal plan containing the recommended daily intake of all ESSENTIAL micronutrients in the least amount of calories possible (if this is too much then just vitamins and maybe common minerals would work too)
added challenge would be doing this for various diets (vegeterian, keto, paleo, carnivore, high protein, etc)

I really like this list and it's very informative. Just wanted to mention something I just learned as I was diagnosed with iron deficency recently. Tannin containing drinks such as coffee, tea, etc can inhibit your body's ability to absorb iron from food by up to 70%. You can avoid this by not drinking these drinks an hour before or after meals. They do not cause iron deficency but can contribute to it and also sloww the healing process.

On the list of youtube channels this one is an absolute top tier. So much research and careful detail put into the placements. You're great.

the issue with fruit juices is that they condense the sugar from multiple fruits into one glass, and have none of the fibre. If youve ever squeezed your own apple juice you know, it takes like 4 to get a glass of the stuff.

These ratings of various food groups are fantastic. All of us have widely various diets. These ratings give us a bird's eye view of the health and nutritional values of most, and thus allows us to prioritize better the foods we eat, eating a little more of the more healthier ones, and a little less of the not so healthy or nutritious ones. Thank you for your time and effort in putting this lists and ratings together... they are a good way to start the New Year off right... eating more healthy!
A TU SALUD!

What ive learned from these videos is this: best diet for health (not necessarily weight loss) is VARIETY! Get many different grains, get many different fruits, try different non calorie drinks (herbal teas were not on here. Wonder if they have any benefit beyond being flavored water). Etc! Love these.
