If you’re at a lower elo and your losing defense, you gotta roam. It’s so easy to flank at low elo because flank watch is tough and no one drones. Just post up somewhere you can flank. For example, on nighthaven you can kinda chill in the kitchen and flank all three of the usual choices for the attackers to enter, get an easy pick or two and retreat. Only downside to that is if you’re not active enough you can get screwed on an aggressive push

I played siege way less then others and mever focused on ranked. I have around 1.7k hours on the game as of now and a good chunk of that was monty. Pre rework mostly.

I feel like adding I'm usually the group leader as the one with most hours, best game sense and map knowledge. I play Monty both for fun and to absolutely sweat to help my team thru every situation. I bring info from how my friends and i interact in gun fights and what i advise to new monty mains or those who have a Monty player on their stack.

I see the argument thrown around a lot by my teammates on why im taking gunfights and not helping them

I feel as tho i should explain a few things. (I play on pc btw. This is important because it means my aim is absolutely better then controller in a casual setting. Aka quick match/standard/lower ranks.)

Montange is a coin flip character.
Hes either the top frag (yes sadly ive been there winning us matched with 6-8 kills above my teammates) or the bottom frag (my teammates told me what to do, where to stand, played around my util (aka the shield) ) and if you've read this far then congratulations. This is where im diving in

WHAT TO DO / NOT DO AS A MONTY OR WITH A MONTY!

As a monty: 1. Never engage a gun fight where: A- the enemy is aiming at you/has shown great flicking skills
B- multiple people are surrounding you/have sight on you and are not distracted.
Or C- when you are in a position in which they can kill you with 1 c4 (monty should take at least 2-3 c4s before dying. Learn to dodge them)

With a Monty: never do these 3 things
A- run ahead of him when engaging an enemy. (He's there to protect you not to watch you die)
B- stay 2cm from his ass crack. Any good monty will move backwards (to avoid dmg) and yell C4. And during this if you are right behind him you can either.. a) fuck him over more b) get yourself killed
C- shooting him. Please people. Ive had enemies blocked on a single door out of site only to get shot in the head by my teammate thinking im an enemy.

Monty should never be the one who plants. While he CAN do it. Hes better at protecting the planter then planting himself. A good monty will drop the defuser and protect you if he feels he cannot accomplish this action.

And one more thing. -never call a monty main bad because they use a shield. Most monty mains understand that unlike blitz we have to use our pistols more. Our job requires more precise aim then any other as headshots are important. Its easier to shoot an ads monty in the head then it is for him to shoot you because of the slow ads speed.

This is my 101 how to be mentally stable with/as monty.
