Water hose leaks can be frustrating. The most common place a leak forms is at the connection with the water spigot. This is a much easier repair than most think. The washers needed are cheap and easy to find. Check out the video for a step by step tutorial.

Thank you so much for your tutorial. I was just about to buy a new hose when I figured I'd just do a YT search on how to fix a leaky hose. I did still have a leak when I put one in because it was loose, so I tried adding another and voila, no more leak! My front yard is being watered as we speak. Thanks again - God bless you.

Good idea to put some plumbing tape on the screw thread too to prevent siezing and leaking at the thread.

Endless videos about the rubber washer and nothing about if it still is spraying everywhere despite trying 5 different brand new rubber washers.

what do we look into if the rubber washer is installed and this is still happening?

Thank you thank you thank you! This happened to me with a brand new leader hose that came with a bad washer. Had a variety pack of rubber washers, popped it out real quick and replaced...problem solved. You’ve saved me hours of frustration...that new nylon washer looked just fine.

I have found that rubber washers work better in some applications and the plastic kind work better in others. I keep both on hand and try the cheaper ones first, once you know which works best in a particular application stick with it. I go around each year and replace the washers in all the things I commonly use(I have some things I might not use for years and I don't bother with them until I need them). This can save money especially if your water bill is prorated. Don't forget to use the older washers first they do go bad from age alone.

For anybody else with this issue, it could also be a hose vacuum breaker meant to prevent backflow.

New house, new hoses with non-worn washers, and the damn connection still leaks. I’ve tried several connections: hose to spigot, timer to spigot, shut-off to spigot. I even used plumber’s tape and that didn’t work. It’s so damn frustrating. It shouldn’t be this difficult to get a connection that won’t leak.

I might try the neoprene but the red rubber has worked best so far. Just sanded with sand paper the new faucet valve surface and also inside the new splitter connection to the faucet. It did work to where no only a small leak like a pint and hour or so. Checked for pinhole or tiny cracks with magnifying glass, 10 power and did not find any cracks. O rings might work. Just dont make things like they used to and often even new stuff you gotta dig out skills of 40 years to get it workin

I think you should secure the shutoff valve to the wall first before the joint cracks, than you really have leak.

Thanks. Mine is leaking from the spigot. I changed my washer and it still leaks. Any tips?

I think you first need to securely anchor your spigot to the outside wall of the house before you break, twist, or cause the copper water line to break off or leak
Just my 2 cents worth
