Uncovering the Unexpected: Model Train Powered by 9V Battery

How I check my N scale model train track with a battery when I'm building my model trains layout. When installing track work on my layout, I use a battery to check each section of train track for shorts and or opens. I like to make sure the track work functions before I move to other steps in the model train layout building process. It is very cool that you can run model trains with a battery.
Can a model train move with a 9 volt battery?

I love N Scale! Model trains are my favorite hobby! I’ve been working on my n-scale layout for a few months now and it’s starting to come together a bit!

I tried it and it works... when the layout is not connected to anything anyway!

Oh wow! I’ve used 9 volts to test trains before, but I never even considered trying this method! Nice idea!

😮You know... somebody told me this wayyyy back in the 1980s. I was always afraid to try it with my then Tyco 8x4 layout. Seeing it years later, it's pretty cool! The funny thing is... I test my DCC conversions directly... but always afraid to try the 9v on today's DCC track layout. Good video!👍🏼

I tried it and it's a decent way to test track without plugging everything in

I was just wondering the other day how small is the smallest scale model train set, that’s really neat, not
Sure if there’s smaller probably but thanks for posting

I do this very thing at train shows, when there is no test track available. I just touch the battery contacts to the wheels.

I used to do that on my HO layout. I bought a Lima HO train set in the 1980's that was non electric it came with batteries they weren't your regular C batteries but something odd. You can also do this on a 6 volt lantern battery only with wires wrapped around the spring coils. It's experimental but fun. 👍🛤️🛤️🛤️🛤️
