I got the joke.

It's also great to have one for debarking logs.

I use a drawknife when shaping a rifle stock. They are very useful tools

I primarily use mine for making hammer and axe handles. I also used it to make the springs for a lathe I’m working on.

Used a drawknife to reshape a hole for a sink in particle board. Quicker than a file

Remember Shepherd Tools, Canadian guys circa 2001? I have their drawknife and it is gorgeous, works amazingly well 24 years on.

I own a couple draw knives and I don't use them very often but when I do I'm glad I own them.

The draw knife is my favorite tool for carving guitar necks. I use it until I get close to the profile that I want and then I switch to a rasp.

I was in scouts and the draw knife is the first tool you use that made me think "oh crap, we were wood working this whole time!"
We just never had sharp well maintained tools to use on good wood.
If we wanted to do a mortice and tenon joint to taztch 2 logs, it took forever to cut the European Acacia and chisel it and drill the hole.... Quicker to just attach them together with string 😂

I got my draw knife in a random lot of tools I got on one of the online market places. Love it. I did get the joke although I cannot remember the exact ad it came from.... it probably dates both of us though.

I dont know how it is in America but here in Germany the drawknife was the holy tool of woodworking. Every carpenter, carpenter, wheelwright, cooper, clog maker, woodcarver even every farmer had one until 50 jears ago

I love my hand tools, literally do not own a single electric one, and a draw knife is the one tool I spent like 70 bucks on and I would be stupid to regret it. Those things are like old craftsman tools.

Fun fact. The draw knife was originally intended for use in gun fights

I know it's the wrong reference, but an SNL said Great Valley Ranch isn't just for Salads anymore.

Still need a drawknife, I've wanted one for years, I always wanted the mora one for bushcraft but now I'm a woodworker (mostly hand tools, but I've got a few electric/power tools) I have even more need for one.

I picked up a spoke shave the other day because of your long video on one. I'm just starting out and didn't have all the tools to make one myself, but I got one. Needs a bloody good sharpen tho
