I've been playing on 1.5.97 ever since this mod came out, it's been tremendous help.

When playing a game becomes a work routine and requires a modding PHD degree 😂 and IT levels of cmd command experience

mod creators need to start making their mods for 1.5.97, this is the only way to avoid updates

I used to run on 1.6.5.3 but I missed my Ultimate Combat animations, and actual boss fights, and downpatched to 1.5.9.7. Be aware, I’ve had my settings I PURPOSELY set to NEVER LAUNCH GAME UNLESS I LAUNCH IT, and when an update drops, my settings magically change to, “always keep my game up to date, ” without my consent or knowledge.

I haven’t even played Skyrim since it originally came out and I still found the video incredibly helpful.

When I heard about the update, I said to myself that I Wouldn't update from 16.4440. but then I found this Armore mod(it required an updating Skyrim to be able to see this armor in the game) So I updated 1.6.1130. Took me many hours and headaches until I finally got my Skyrim to work like It used to be. I'll not update my game anymore for any reason. I learned from my mistakes. From 600+ Mods down to close to 400. My game started much faster also.

Regarding the GOG version, like Steam, GOG has frequent weekly & quarterly sales. I picked up Skyrim SE, even the AE DLC/add-on during the last Xmas sale for under $15. So if you don’t have a pressing need right this second, and can hold off a purchase until a sale, you can get it fairly reasonably priced. Without the AE dlc I think it was under $10.

Thank you for being another channel to join us in showing people how to do this! I slapped one together back in December, but yours is definitely more well put together.

Small detail I want to mention that I and only a handful of people experienced (which makes me this is an issue exclusive to 1.6.640), setting Steam to only update the game when launched, and then using SKSE no longer works as a bypass. It instead will instantly close the game, and try to update, which I couldn't help but feel that was intentional.

Unfortunately, Steam and Bethesda now work hand-in-hand to screw you over; setting Steam to Never Update Unless Launched Through Steam DOES NOT WORK. Why? Because, despite ALWAYS launching through MO2, Steam CHANGED my Skyrim settings, right before a Skyrim update, causing the newest update to happen, against both my wishes and my settings. And, as evidenced by multiple comments on my entertainment-news channel, the same has happened to many others. This is Not a joke, Steam is now in bed with Todd Howard to screw you over.

I switched to the GOG version a month ago and am up to a 106 mods list; I had been running over 300 mods before. I have at least temporarily lost many of my favorite animation mods but am still happy to be free of all the Steam/Bethesda garbage. Most mods will work fine on GOG, you just have to read first.

I'm slightly shocked Bethesda isn't taking over the beyond skyrim project. Do you have any idea how much money they would make if beyond skyrim bruma costed money???

While I recommend staying on 1.5.97, I do think it's worth upgrading to 1.6.1130 and then downgrading with the tool, using the "Best of Both Worlds" option.

That way you go back to 1.5, but keep the updated ESMs, which newer mods have dependency on and can use updated ESLs, which are actually the one good thing about the recent updates.

I personally just run regular skyrim, not SE or AE. Just Skryim. it's good, and it even has a separate category in Nexus so you don't have to worry about capability. It just works.

This info is a big help. Just wish we had an option to do rollbacks like some games did back in the old days.
