KELIMUTU. A dramatic active VOLCANO on the Island of Flores, in Indonesia. Its mood changes like the weather and today we find out the Volcano Alert has been raised to a DANGEROUS level 3!
🌋 Are we safe to walk on this mountain?!
🌋 Will there be an eruption?
🌋 And what colour will the crater lakes be today?
While Kelimutu is not the tallest volcano on Flores (that is Gunung Inerie) nor the most famous in Indonesia (it has to compete with Mount Ijen, Mount Bromo and Mount Rinjani), the view over the tricolored crater lakes is incredible and definitely worth the hike.
And speaking of colours - what about the beautiful clothes the village Grandmothers wear? And the jewel tones of the volcanic rocks that wash up on Blue Stone Beach?
