Alabama Football News: Is Alabama Football In TROUBLE In State As Auburn Gets BIG Wins!

Today we discuss the topic I have seen time and time again online, College Football fans everywhere are asking the question of whether Alabama Football Recruiting is in trouble in the state of Alabama. Alabama Football is the number 2 recruiting class in the nation, so they have been able to recruit some of the best high school football players out there. But many are still concerned. Today we break this down and I tell you while in state recruiting DOES matter, it may not matter as much as people would have previously believed.

It matters. If it didn’t matter then saban wouldn’t have dominated the state for the past decade and a half . It’s much easier to transfer out of Alabama if your from California. When you take in state kids they grow up knowing each other and it makes it feel more important to stay home and produce. If a kid grows up dreaming of playing for the home state school then it makes it mean more and harder to hit the transfer portal. Plus it’s cheaper to recruit in state. Your not having to move families and your staff isnt having to live on the road. Your staff can scoot over to Birmingham on a Friday night and watch your players play and talk to them. If they live in Texas or California the staff can’t run over on a Friday night and watch them play during the season and talk to them. I could go on and on and on about how important recruiting the top kids in your home state is. Saban kept all of the top tier in state kids at Alabama.

Imagine paying for the flights to get the parents to the games. Auburn was about as far as I wanted to drive to visit my daughter. My wife and I were driving home from a game one night, and we both thought we saw the trees hopping from one side of 280 to the other. Imagine driving home to Texas the next morning.

The recruits we have lost are being replaced by better ones

Yes it matters, it hits different when you have players playing at home but I will say the 2 flips this year are not as big. You don’t want a person not player but person like Coleman in a locker room. Smith needs to be happy with the position he wants to play and he has that but he can be replaced. Now losing Offord was HUGE now if we continue to lose those caliber players then loose out on the back end players like Smith year in and year out then we really will see it matters, but this year gets a pass because Deboer wants the players he wants he hasn’t gotten into the come play for home battle with Auburn yet that’ll come very soon tho.

It doesn’t matter if 50% of the players you “lost” is dumber than a bag of dirt and plays against tiny 1A linemen. Smith on the other hand I would like to flip back unless he just wants to play WR.

Yes !! It is absolutely crucial that you keep the best players in your state !! Losing Offord and the two flips is a massive failure. That said, I never expected this staff to be as effective as they are in recruiting .

The State of Alabama is loaded every year. We will gladly take all the in state players. Thanks

Yes in state recuit recuiting matters. They're a lot of kids in state that are highly talent but under developed vs a state like California. Far as the Derrick Smith situation both schools were offering him to play safety or wr. Auburn wants him at Wr but gave him the option to play what he wants.

Every national championship team has been loaded with in state players.. in state matters but it's not the end all be all.. if you notice ALOT of our muscle on defense and OL has been from in state over the years.. you'd be surprised how many of our dominant defenses were loaded with players from Alabama.. Marlon Humphrey, Jonathan Allen, Brian Robinson, TJ Yeldon, Rashaan Evans, Marcel Dareus, dre Kirkpatrick, CJ Mosley, Quinnen Williams, Mark Barron, Bo Scarborough, Reggie Ragland, AJ Mccarron, Rolondo McClain, Bradley Bozeman & many others were from Alabama and that's just a start

Yes, it matters. Ask saban and coach smart. Recruiting instate brings hype to the other high school players. These kids already play with each other, so the gap in building trust is faster.
Also, these students become fans along with family. That brings generational fans.

maybe before the transfer portal, nowadays not so much. An in state kid will leave bama or auburn to an out of state team at the drop of a dime! (NIL)

It matters, but you can't get them all. I think Deboer is picking and choosing The BEST from in State and outta state. There may be some behind the scenes conversations (Coaches & Recruits) at Bama that are not publicized, entailing playing time projects. If the recruits don't like the outcomes of those conversations, they may go elsewhere to play more immediately. You have to go to a less stacked team for that typically. Scheme fit also plays into decisions. Roll Tide, Ty! 🐘🏈⬆️

A couple of weeks ago Alabama fans were on top of the world when the class went to #1.
Now many of those same fans think the sky is falling.
Having a great class committed is terrific but it needs to be taken with a grain of salt...unless you just like riding a roller coaster.

It matters, when, if, and as much as, the recruits matter.
Though you do want culture, which often includes in-state guys.
Considering how national this class is, I'm not worried. If this is year 3, and those people are getting the best in-state guys, then it's a problem.

Does Alabama really want these guys who flipped?

Dead on the assessment of this year's recruiting. This Alabama staff have shocked the college world up to this date. For them not having any relations in the state of Alabama or in nation and surpassing the lower expectations of the so called experts, the SEC better not take their eyes off this group because they're going to get better.Coach D's offense is going to attract a lot of elites all over the nation .The 4-2-5 defense simplifies the individual assignments so that the players can have a better focus. Coach Patterson of TCU ran this defense to perfection and we have much better players than he had. You going to see
much more blitzing from this group and Coach Wommack will adjust the different sets throughout the game. His defense will be a combination of Jeremy Pruitt and Monte Kiffin's Tampa Bay group. So get excited this group will be fun to watch. Roll

I think instate recruiting matter because these kids understand the culture n I for psychological aspect these kids already get what Alabama means to this state. Derek Smith going to AU to WR is a str8 cope out for one AU don’t produce nfl receivers n two I believe the coaches at Bama would have given him a shot!
