Rubber Glass is also known as Sili glass. This is how the actors can run around barefoot on glass.

The crackling glass sound really sells it. Even knowing it's basically rubber glass it's still unnerving seeing you walk over it. Cool!

I'm curious how they did the scene where he removes it from his foot. I'm guessing some kind of prop foot with fake glass? I haven't seen it in a few years, but I remember it looking really realistic, so *props* to whoever did that particular job.
