Welcome back! Today, we're going to start talking about spectral analysis of filter banks. First, we'll review filter banks and the fact that the DFT matrix is unitary. We'll then see that when we apply a polyphase decomposition and set the polyphase components equal to 1, we end up with a filter bank where the underlying filter is a rectangular window, which has a first side lobe at -13 dB. We'll wrap up the lecture by learning that passing a signal through these filters is equivalent to filtering the signal through the filter H0(z).
