Great video. In addition to my earlier comments, I'll also add a strong word of caution to anyone planning to cross the Atlantic on QM2, and that is to take a warm jacket or coat. Even during the dog days of August, the mid-Atlantic can be frightfully cold, and you'll want something very warm in order to wander around outside. And after a few days of indulgence, you're going to be needing that walk and breath of fresh air, so you'll be glad for a warm jacket.

By no means should this discourage anyone from a trans-Atlantic crossing. It's a spectacular experience! And as the QM2 is a proper ocean liner, she's built for the rough seas, so even in the stormiest of weather, she just plows through the water like a hot knife through butter.

At the end of 1999 I retired after 30 years in Law Enforcement. One of the things I planned to do and cross off my bucket list, was to take the QM2 from New York to Southampton, (7days). Now living in Canada, I had to get a return flight from NY and a return ticket from London to NY. Everything was planned, paid for, just a deposit for the cruise and as the days approached I was really getting so excited.
In February of 2000 Covid hit, all the plans were cancelled and needless to say I was devastated. Fortunately I received a full refund, except for 1 small voucher. Now that everything is back up and running, unfortunately I am unable to re- book.
Thank you so much for this video. I felt like I was there, enjoying what I would have experienced. ❤

Mr C, thanks for your guide to QM2. You look like you’ve been cruising much longer for a young man. You’re also easy on the eye and presentable. If you sailed to Hamburg, you could cruise back to back in Southampton. I sailed on Elizabeth before the pandemic to Zeebrugge but instead of going to Bruges, went to Blankenburg/erge by a shuttle bus. I’ve booked QM2 for my belated birthday in ‘26 with a scenic cruise on the Cornish coast. June

This looked so nice. As an American, I would say fancy, you might say posh. My anxiety issues leave me with no desire to cruise, but your calm voice, the beautiful ship, the well-mannered people, etc., made it look very intriguing. Recently, I watched a video of someone who went on a cruise, from here in the US. It was nothing like this. Now that I think about it, the people that were on the ship were exactly like how I think people from other countries perceive Americans. Loud, obnoxious, you know, all the negatives. Plus, the food looked pretty bad. Anyway, you did a wonderful job of showing the beautiful ship, and what you can do while cruising. It almost made me want to go, myself. Almost.😅 You would make a wonderful cruise director. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I loved the art deco decor, too. Homer was a silly surprise. I'm excited to see, or hear about, your time in Germany.😊

Room service is usually completely free on Cunard.A service charge is automatically added to everyones bill on most cruise lines. This is for staffing gratuities. You can ask for this to be removed and tip the waiters, room steward etc there is an additional service charge with every bar staff served drink also.

What a lovely start to Sunday morning. I live in Southampton so I see the liners and cruise ships constantly and back in 2017 I was lucky enough to go transatlantic on the QM2 and it was the trip of a lifetime 😊If you ever get the chance do it there is nothing like sailing into New York

I was lucky enough to sail on Queen Mary in 1965. It was a beautiful ship. I was 8 at the time.

I can't wait to experience the QM2 for myself in a few months time - it looks absolutely wonderful on there!

I did the Southampton-Hamburg return run in Sept 23. What a ship, what an experience. Nice to think that Great Britain can still do things properly. The crew on board leave you wanting for nothing. A great video, thank you.

A couple of tips for you:
On longer sailings when you may need to take more luggage, note that there is plenty of room under the beds to store your empty suitcases while you're at sea; that way you can maximize your closet space for your actual clothing.

The coffee table in front of the sofa, if I'm not mistaken, is height adjustable. This is a nice touch since Cunard still offers complimentary room service, and you can adjust that table to a more comfortable height for eating.

The drinks package at $90/day is much more expensive when purchased on board. We'll be sailing next summer, and the same package when purchased in advance is $70/day. Also, keep in mind that the rate is per person, so that's effectively a difference of $40/day if you're sailing as a couple.

Your videos are always terrific and this was one of your best--so informative and fun. This is my favorite ship and you've done her proud! (Looking very handsome in your tux, Mr. C!) I've taken several trips on her, including the trans-Atlantic crossing, and you showed me parts of the ship I have never seen. I need to go again!

So glam, reminds of the Bette Davis film Now Voyager, where her wings are borrowed! 😎

There is no service charge for Breakfast in bed or room service. Not last month when I was on her anyway. No dark jeans are not allowed in the dining room after 6pm.
When you arrived in Hamburg some people had completed a 32 day voyage starting in Hamburg, then Southampton (where we boarded) New York (where we disembarked), a two week voyage to Canada going as far as Quebec, back to New York, Southampton (where you boarded) and finally back in Hamburg. Your video was very enjoyable and made me wish I was back. You should take a transatlantic to get a real feeling of what this ship is built for.

The transatlantic crossing on the QM2 is one of the bucket list travel things to do. I loved it. I fly out to do a Celebrity Cruise tomorrow followed by a Seabourn cruise. Can’t wait to be back on the sea

Lovely video. I feel totally transported onto the cruise ship. Have to admit I’ve never fancied cruising but think I’ve changed my mind. Surprisingly low prices for all that comfort and splendour. Thank you.

Ooooh, Mr. C! What a wonderfully relaxing tour of the QM2. Thank you so much for taking us along with you! I lived in the New Forest, Lyndhurst for several years and am quite familiar with Southampton. I’m afraid you’ve made me quite ‘homesick’ for my time in England. I am stunned at the prices of your excursion! So reasonable, even including the add-on’s. I hope your business in Germany was a success. Really enjoy your channel, and thanks again! 🙋‍♀️🇺🇸💕👏👍‼️
