Why France Banned The iPhone 12

France recently announced that they would ban sales of The Apple iPhone 12 after it failed a safety test. So what exactly is wrong with the phone? And should people around the world continue using it?

I remember seeing this on the news a week ago. In the same report they said "it dangerously doubles the amount of radiation numbers imposed by France" and "but there's no evidence of it causing any real harm".

I have the iPhone 12 and I am not going to upgrade it until iPhone 16 or 17. It works great and it is a perfect phone for my usage. It can get a bit warm sometimes but I am sure it has nothing to do with the radiation.

Ok I am French and I will clarify a little more. Yes, the legal limit in France is indeed 4.0W per kg. YEs, the iPhone 12 has 5.74W per kg.

BUT : All the tests we have done have only succeeded in proving that at 40W per kg, it heats organic tissues (like the skin of mice on which we have carried out tests).
Several studies have tried to show a danger of 40W per kg, without succeeding in having scientific proof.
The only scientific proof we have is that it heats up very (very very) slightly.
Knowing that at 40W per kg, this had effects ; the organizations responsible in France have decided to set a limit 10 times lower than this dose which has effects on skin (just a little heat lol) so they say that they need to say under 4w per kg.

I’m in the US. I had so many issues with my iPhone 12 getting extremely hot, like, burning the skin hot. I brought it to the Apple Store and tried to demonstrate, and when the employee felt it she basically called me a wuss by saying heat is “subjective”. Like… what??? No honey I don’t think my phone should be this hot just from charging normally… but ok
