Ik Kudi reminds me of one of my exes. We were together in school till 12th grade. She was Muslim. She was like sunshine, simply one of the most lively and full-of-love girls I had ever come across. So naturally caring for everyone around her, even the animals and plants. Her parents got her married right after our board results to a family friend's son employed in Saudi whom she had never met before. I saw her the last time the day prior to her wedding and although calm and composed, she seemed like a totally different person. Someone who had accepted her fate. Her eyes had lost the sparkle. Her voice had lost the excitement. I still think about her quite often.

How amazing it is that batalvi saab wrote an immortal song for a girl he never met again and even the girl never got to know that this song was for her. Just beautiful

The best version of ikk kudi sung by Shiv Kumar batalvi himself. Unmatched and so much depth in his singing, touches the soul.

The way you break down every line of 'Ik Kudi'—and every song on your channel—is just incredible. Your explanations add so much depth and emotion that I never realized before. It’s not just about understanding the lyrics; it's about feeling them in a way I never thought possible. Your videos are so soothing and beautifully crafted, making every song even more special. Please make more videos on Shiv Kumar Batalvi’s ghazal—he was one of my dad’s favorites, and now, thanks to your videos, I truly understand why.

your benevolence has no rival!...
every door is shut except yours
so a stranger lost at night
finds no other door but yours ....

this is the quote that came in my mind during this video ...as my mind reminds me of myself while listening to ik kudi ....
we need to find ourselves ❤

"Lamm salammi saru de kad di haaye" -- Favourite verse of mine from the song. The use of Mustard does justice. the word transports my imagination to a field of Mustard and I realise that Batalvi ji described so many things through this. The warmth and colours he felt while being close to her like we feel in a mustard field.

the *lines between lust and love are often blurred* in literature and art. Poets and writers frequently wax lyrical about the physical beauty of their beloved, the longing gazes, and the intoxicating passion.

The focus is on the all-consuming desire, the emotional turmoil, and the sweet torment of love. Rarely do we find poetic odes to the beloved's kindness, compassion, or contributions to society.

It highlights how our cultural narrative often prioritizes romantic love as a selfish, all-consuming force, rather than a selfless, world-enriching one.

By *emphasizing the physical and emotional aspects of love*, we *overlook the transformative power of love* to inspire positive change and foster a deeper connection with the world around us.

The local story which I know being from Himachal and locality… Shiv use to study in the Baijnath college and he fell in love with a girl name ‘Pooja’ and during the vacations when shiv went to his house back in punjab and then when he came back she was not there, maybe she got married, while family pressure or what ever you call. And some says she died in the river. But then shiv never saw her and that’s how this song came!

With all due respect your research would also be very accurate but this is what the locals say. Thank you keep doing this lovely work.
