Napoleon : Total War HD Online Commentary Battle 27 Heir at Waterloo

This was a pretty fun match I played on Friday when I was home sick. I have one more match from that day that I will show you as well sometime soon. Enjoy!

The houses on waterloo are insane.  In some sandbox testing I did online, three maxed out old guard in one of the waterloo buildings will hold off an assault from 19 maxed out ottoman melee infantry + a general.  The main reason is that the pathing and shooting ai are bad. Your men end up getting shot a bunch while they are in the process of fighting for the house, and attacking units can't fire back during an assault. When attacking with overwhelming numbers, the way unit pathing works, your men don't end up ganging up on the defending units, and most of the men sit idle and slowly get shot to death.

Yea I was only saying "crap faction" cause Portugal has no cav or artillery diversity in this game. I obviously have no problem with Portugal in real life. I didn't realize their line was ok, but my opponent wasn't using standard line so in the end his men were better for the most part. Thanks for all the comments.

Portuguese line is actually not that bad. One notch down from the British. Probably the second best standard line in the game (in terms of reload speed and accuracy). I think the Ports have 45 acc and 55? reload compared to the 50 and 60 Britain has.

Your gameplay and commentaries are the best of all Total War commentators. I'd live to see more Napoleon and Empire gameplay. Maybe a campaign?

I have to say that the studies show that actually 12 pounder would shoot a round per minute while 6 or 9 pounder guns would shoot up to 2 rounds per minute. In that sense NTW seems to be right enough.

The problem with making a WWI Total war game is that battles went from being controlled by a single general to long chains of comand. Not to mention the new type of warfare, the more squad based urban warfare that WWI entalled would be very hard for CA to make. if this were to happen, the game would most likely be more of a men of war type game.

@stevenhaful That's for gameplay fluidity reasons. It's a game where most units are a melee unit, and so in order for the games to not take forever, the men run a bit faster! :)

Had something similar happen to me, I was playing as the netherlands and the french player camped a building with two old guards and told me that he wasnt going to move. :(
