I started the discipline of a straight left arm and breaking the wrist early at take away, about two months ago and still cannot believe how much my game has improved. I sometimes forget to turn my chest sufficiently on the take away and end up with lost yards as a result. But the technique of (1) keeping the hands ahead of the club head at setup (b) keeping the lower body quiet on the back swing (c) early wrist cock and straight left arm all the way through, produce truly magical results.

This video might be the best golf video on all of YouTube.

Best tip I ever saw. After doing this technique I now hit my driver straight every time. I use to always hit my driver to the right. Thx

I started playing since one month from today and this video allowed me hitting much more consistent and straighter shots. I just need always to remember to twist my rips towards the target as a first movement in my down swing, leading my torso and arms. Thanks for this helpful tip! Better when used for irons than for woods.

Simple tip with incredible results..Most teaching pros could never say so little and be so right if their life depended on it !!!!

Thank you VERY MUCH. This is the BEST instruction I've ever had on this persistent 30 year problem.  Solved in 2 minutes.  No more sickly way too long swing with the funky bent left arm at top, indeed, I'm wide, tight, short of parallel, and banging the ball 30-40 yards past where I was. Two AMAZING minutes!  (There are a lot of videos and instruction on this problem, broken down left arm at the top, but many don't work and many send people on a wild goose current and previous instructors included.)

This is an awesome way of teaching hinge. I have been giving some lessons for about 15 years and the instruction has changed tremendously. I think it would provide another good view down the line. Thanks for the great tip!

Thanks for the tip. I am one of those "bring the club back low and slow" golfers. My swing needs work.

Very helpful. And straight to the point. Most videos need a major word diet. Thanks

You are right. But I did not say that applying pressure with the first three fingers is a fault. The thing that Ben Hogan did not tell people was that the pressure in his first three fingers came from applying pressure in the joint of his left wrist. In M F he tells us to make a downward rotation with the left wrist in the waggle, as you would if you actively applied pressure with the first three fingers; but he actually kept his left wrist wedged in when he waggled.

Grip pressure is the main reason for a player making a faulty extension. It is a fault to actively apply pressure with the first three fingers. Pressure should come from the wrist joint. Hogan's grip secret was that he applied pressure in the joint of his left wrist. For a short shot he applied extreme pressure in the joint of the wrist to get the hands cocking earlier and for a long shot he would increase the pressure at the point of flexion, when his arms had fully extended on the way back.

The best way is take your grip whilst standing upright with your arms close to your body. Stretch your left hand out and place the centre of your palm on the grip then grip the club. When you stretch your arms out you will feel the pressure build up in the joint of your left wrist. From there you can increase the pressure at will.

Honestly this significantly helped me. I went out and played a round and had solid iron shots every time. I can't believe this was the way i was supposed to me hitting irons. This is coming from a guy who is pretty bad at golf.

So I'm pretty sure I have this problem, I will give this a try, but I used to at address start the backswing with a small hinge in the wrist like this drill, most people I know say don't do this, they drag the club back but not to over do it like you do in the video.
