It's always "everyone has anxiety" until they see an episode then it's "what's wrong with you?"

that’s why i stopped talking to people about the problems i am facing. they keep invalidating my experiences and talking them down or making it about themselves.

Asking us to “go out more”, is like recommending more screen time to someone who doesn’t sleep well.

This!! Their decompression with their friends equals extra workload for us if we did the same thing. That's it. That's the disconnect they don't get.

I stopped trying to decode what people mean. I take them literally. Saves loads of time and energy.

My mom is in denial about me being autistic and she thinks I don't go out enough. I leave the house once a week, and after that I sit in bed or on the couch eating safe foods and crocheting. It's so fun but so draining and it sucks!

And this is why I'm constantly stunned by both the fact that I was 24 before I knew I was autistic and that I have ever had a social life. I am much less tired now that I don't see friends as much. A shame not seeing then also makes me sad

This is so relatable, i keep being confused what the conversation is even about and when i finally understand it, the next topic is already started

Yess! So many people need to learn that it’s okay to say “I can’t imagine how you feel”.

"You just gotta get out more." It takes me a lot to get frustrated, but that saying does it every time.

I literally do not understand how anyone could decompress with other people. I am the most comfortable with my mom and I can’t even decompress with her all the way.

Like the "you make it to the social events after a long and stressful work week" is my current problem with people

My sister does this everytime I mention something related to ADHD. I explain to her what I go through and shes like "Omg everyone feels that way sometimes you dont have ADHD" like she dodnt hear anything I just said (I cant afford proper diagnosis but I am very sure I have ADHD after a lot of research and talking with my diagnosed friends)

She's so calm, she never gets angry when people don't get what she means!

Theyre trying to say that they understand, but all it does is imply that we don't actually have a disorder and therefore don't need extra help or understanding. Like I most likely actually need you to acknowledge that I am different from you

Someone told me once that line "you need to go out more" when I was sincerely talking about my feelings for the first time.

My ADHD and Autism constantly overlaps Meaning when I’m stressed or overwhelmed I talk super fast to try to get things over with.

I come home every day after work and cry from the stress of having to pretend I'm ok in all that chaos.
Totally normal.
