If the U.S government collapsed then the debt would just vanish. So yes technically it can go away.

“Responsible” is a very loaded term - who is being (ir)responsible? Are banks the ones being irresponsible for having excessively risky portfolios? Are big corporations being irresponsible because of their lack of corporate citizenship? Are individual consumers being irresponsible for not being frugal enough in an already tenuous financial environment? I think this channel could benefit it’s audience greatly if it could go the extra mile to explain the ethics and morals of our politicoeconomic landscape in a more comprehensive yet non-partisan way 💯

That debt is inflation.
We are paying more for something that doesn’t create any product while paying extremely low for foods when it’s one of the only jobs that actually generate stuff.

Governments around the world are doing the equivalent of loading up their credit cards to buy their friends drinks at the bar.

I totally understand your logic. Unfortunately, when they feel the need to go after waitress tips, they know their spending is out of control

What happened to the French in 1780s...? We're being driven to insolvency and rampant inflation!

How about repealing the 2017 tax cuts, we wouldn't need to cut any spending.

Tax the rich into the dirt, bring back the 90% marginal tax rate like we had in the 60s. You know, back when America was “great”

The answer is no, because no matter what, there will always be more debt than money because of the interest. If every dollar in existence went toward the debt then the debt would still exist. It is mathematically impossible to repay, by design. 🫢
