We love our ‘24 Ultimate. Great all around fun machine…….

They just need to make a Northstar edition. The new engine to be able to run AC. Keep it cheaper than the Xpedition and they will sell a bunch of them.

As someone who lives in the north-east, the general is the happy median. Since most trails state owned or club run, have size limitations and now weight limitations, the expedition can’t be used on 80% of the trails. Size wise it’s within bounds, but unfortunately “dry weight” wise it exceeds the amount. You still see some out and about on the trails but it’s become all too common now where OHRV registrations directly from the state, are being revoked because of the weight of the expedition. So a facelift on the General would definitely be enjoyed

Great content as always guys. That’s a 2024 model, you had 2025 in the description. We all know the 25 is just bng and a new steering wheel though, so it applies.

Definitely needs an update. Solid machine the way it is but come on, everyone can always use more power! Need to update the powerplant and bump the hp up to 130+ then a restyle for the interior/exterior.

The general is a better machine than the expedition. I own a general. My in-laws owns an expedition. The expedition is noisier doesn’t drive as nice. I would buy the general over the expedition 10 out of 10. Yes it could use an update and refresh.

The CanAM Commander XTP is the king but Polaris is coming back

Have a general HVAC model for $30, 000 and they’ll sale like hotcakes.

The general needs 2" more suspension travel and an extra 20HP. I agree its under powered and its loud. Bring back stage 4 audio with a subwoofer standard with Ride Command. Polaris only offered stage 4 standard in 2020 and 2021.

The general is in desperate need of a new look. Everything else about it is perfect. Since Polaris made the Xpedition they kinda put the general on hold. I’m actually surprised they still offer the general since they made the Xpedition XP with tilt bed. But if they are keeping the general, it only needs a more rounded look to match the ranger front end. That’s all

Needs an update (just as you described), 100% !!! I would then have a reason to upgrade from my 2022 RZR Trail S 1000 🙂

the general xp1000 could use an update in the front end, ex:grill & lights every few years & as far as engine goes some improved #'s in performance would be great and if the ranger can have a/c and a hard shelled cab that would be a game changer to make me go back to a general 1000.. I've owned 2 over the years and would go back to them in a heartbeat if they got some upgrades like love to see a King Suspension Special Edition model that has engine performance enhancements in mind to go with the king shocks like say a turbo edition.. wishfull thinking

This vehicle can become an essential workhorse for the national guards.

So this may be a silly or dumb question, but I recently bought a Polaris General, just a trim level or two down from this one. A problem I’m having is putting gas in it. I feel like the entry point to the tank is too far recessed into the machine and none of my funnels seem to fit into it well or my gas can hits the side of the machine and I can’t get a good pour angle. Do you guys have a recommendation for a gas can or funnel that works well with the placement of the this fuel tank?

with a small refresh and a NorthStar edition even it was just heat and no AC with a factory hard cab it would be perfect, they would sell like crazy. the rumors of a rzr NorthStar coming I'm sure are true it makes sense, so I'm sure Polaris is working on a general refresh to.

Textron just laid off pretty much the entire Arctic cat plant that does production until March sometime. Guessing sales are down....

To answer your question directly, regarding potential updates to the design, the best redesign to add would be a real 4x4 system, in place of the "on demand AWD" garbage they currently use. I wanted a General with Dynamix and ride command, but since the General doesn't have four wheel engine braking (due to the AWD system), I bought an Rmax instead. I think it's a disservice to review this machine without mentioning that it doesn't even have four wheel engine braking. The AWD system works well for most, I know. But when Polaris was designing their flagship SxS, the RZR Pro, it got a real 4x4 driveline. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think it's fair to call the General the "O.G." sport utility; that title belongs to the Rhino. The industry has evolved a lot in the past twenty years, but that shouldn't diminish the role the Rhino is credited with, as it was the predecessor to this entire market segment.
