well...lets stop and think... the chain just transfers the force, the relation of the sprokets are the ones that determine the timing, he's just cutting the chains free play, , , i think is just to reduce noises, there is a chain tensioner on thats system.he also installed a softer spring, since no much force will be needed to keep the chain tense.
