As someone who's obsessed with training, it's really hard for me to take any time off of training. Even on vacations the first thing I look for is the nearest gym. Like Sal said, when you're in this state, you do it for your mental health alongside the physical benefits.

I'm turning 70 on Friday and have gone 3 years without missing a day of exercise except for my Sunday rest days. As a gift to myself, I'm taking my birthday week off! BE DAMNED THE SCALE!!! Happy Birthday to Now if I could just conquer the guilt. I bet I'll get real good at the fine art of conquest!!! I came here to get your approval so thanks for that guys!!!

I just started back training after taking a month off yesterday and I didn't lose as much strength I expected to lose. Mentally I feel a lot better since the break.

I took a month off cause of illness and lost a lot of mass and was devastated to see such quick loss compared to years of building it. Being natural is tough but you have to look at it as a reminder that muscle and the gym isn’t everything . Don’t get obsessed it’s mentally detrimental

I take a couple of weeks off every 6-8 weeks or so, usually because I’ll feel a twinge in my back and I’ve learned the hard way not to train through it. I almost always come back stronger.

I took a week and a few days off from lifting because I had a week of vacation. I use the gym as therapy and it helps me get thru the week I just needed a mental and physical break.
Plus my sciatica was starting to kick in.

I just overtrained today and just found this I work out way too much about to take a week off which I haven't did in years.

I know my time's up when I get sick easily so I know I been overworking my body and takes 4-5 days and I'll be back in business. But it's hard because working out is the highlight of my day, I'm just sad without that .

I never want to, BUT... it's super beneficial for me. After every 4-5 weeks it's just become natural to take that time. It's like a clock. My body just speaks and says do something else for a week. I recover amazingly. Mobility and soreness especially. Mentally it's a challenge to go at something else, but my mental strength got me to do the workout program to begin with so it also gets me to do the stretching, yoga, heavy bag and walking too. I'm one of those ones who like lean, tone and functional strength and the week off completely adds to all of it. Good luck all and give it a shot. If you go hard consistently, you won't lose your gains by giving it a try.

This is me. Been going 6 days a week for ab 4 months. Recently started doing moderate walking on the 7th day, but yeah I have a week vacation coming

It’s important to take time off if you’re ill, or sick, or injured, or even just tired. You will grow during that off week and come back stronger.

I’m personally someone who is super dedicated to training both for the physical and mental benefits, so this month has been a challenge for me. September has so far been about complete rest for me due to long term overtraining (I didn’t even know I was overworking my body till my sports massage therapist pointed out how worn down my muscles were😅) and I can definitely feel a change in my personality from not training. I’m more restless, a bit more anxious and nervous than usual🤔

Had no choice this week but to take a week off since I’m on a vacation away from any gym, but I can tell you I’m ready to hit and grow in the gym better than if I tried lifting the whole time, as hard as it is to take a whole week off

I always get a little depressed when I take some time off but thank you for the video, you have very useful stuff.

This would be the case for me
I train so consistently

So when I take 4/9 days off the gym I come back more stronger and feeling better in general

It didn't want to pay for a gym membership when I had a free gym at work. But my free gym was closed every weekend, every spring break, winter holidays, etc..
So I'd get in a good habit, then the gym would close then I'd have a hard time starting back up. (and I tend not to work out as hard at home)
Finally decided to spend some money to join a gym open year round :)
