Oceanic Insanity
Insanity by Oceanic - UMG Universal Music Group have made a false claim on this song that I own
IMMEDIATE UPDATE - WHILE WRITING THE DESCRIPTIONS FOR THIS VIDEO BEFORE IT WENT LIVE, UMG UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP MADE AN ILLEGAL FALSE CLAIM FOR THIS VIDEO AND ITS AUDIO/MUSIC TRACK. I'LL BE FOLLOWING UP ON THIS VERY SOON, THIS IS GETTING WAY OUT OF HAND.
Insanity by Oceanic - Classic Club Mix - 12" Version
This version of Insanity by Oceanic has been uploaded to see if UMG will make a copyright claim against it.
Or more precisely, will the Universal Music Group make a false copyright claim against this music track, song.
To be clear. I own and control the copyright for the publishing for all version of Insanity by Oceanic and I also own the audio recording for this particular recording, or in other words, the recording copyright.
I've recently had a whole pile of issues with YouTube assisting UMG to lay claim on music copyrights for some of my YouTube videos, videos and copyrights that I actually own.
Aside from a number of obvious issues this causes, such as UMG claiming YouTube ad income and also royalties for the YouTube plays on my videos. This can also lead to a YouTube copyright strike and if left unresolved, could also lead to a YouTube account ban and your YouTube account being suspended or closed if further false claims of copyright ownership are raised against your YouTube account and channel. All no fault of your own.
Has anyone else been subject to this heavy handed copyright claim procedure by UMG with absolutely no concern from YouTube and Google for your music, songs, content and copyrights.
As YouTube content creators who produce, record and write their own music and by extension own all the copyrights. YouTube should be protecting our rights first and not just simply handing carte blanche control of such things to a major record company or major publisher. Or in the case of Universal, a company who basically have a monopoly on a huge amount of copyrights for all forms of media throughout the world, music, film, TV etc.
These false claims of copyright also have a direct effect on a musician's, writer's and producer's income because it will also potentially stop certain royalties from being collected by the likes of PRS, MCPS, ASCAP and other such organisations around the world who act on behalf of their members and collect what's rightfully theirs.
YouTube and Google seriously need to do their jobs properly and to not just capitulate, give in and hand control of questioning copyright ownership to the first major that lays a claim. This is a very bad precedent being set because as soon as UMG have laid claim to copyrights that they do not own, it is going to be a massive up hill and almost impossible struggle for any small label, artist, writer or producer to wrestle back those copyrights that are rightfully theirs.
During this process of having to prove your innocence as it were, proving that you are actually the legal owner of any given copyright. The major that's laying claim to those copyrights will be effecting the true owners income and will be blocking the true owner from rightfully and legally benefiting from the financial exploitation of what is theres.
If you've read this description but don't quite understand what all the fuss is about, imagine this.
You get a knock on the door. There's a police officer and some guy you've never seen before. The police officer allows the guy you've never seen before to enter your home legally and take your TV. You complain to the police officer but he just spouts a whole load of BS that puts you on the back foot and forces you to have to enter in to some costly legal pursuit to get back the TV that you rightly own. In this instance the police office is YouTube Google and the guy you've never seen before is UMG.
Or.
You wake up one morning and check your bank account. You find there's $1000 missing, or the equivalent in your local currency :) You get in touch with the bank and they say that they had a legal claim to pass on your $1000 to a third party who you don't know. I think you can see where I'm going with this one Blah, Blah, Blah. The bank in this instance is YouTube Google and the 3rd party is, yes, you've guessed it, UMG.
Does anyone else feel that YouTube and Google are being completely redundant with this whole mess of false copyright claims by UMG Universal Music Group or any other major and that YouTube Google are simply shirking their responsibilities and passing the buck for what they should be doing?
Check out this video about YouTube copyright claims that uphold UMG false copyright claims. This is another version of Insanity By Oceanic that I own. In this video I prove that UMG have made an illegal claim on a copyright that I own:
Thank you very much for watching this video, take care and goodbye now.
Cheers,
Dave.
