Shit asspull form. Toriyama originally planned for the movie to be only about Piccolo, but the executives at Toei were like "We have to nostalgia bait Gohan or the movie won't sell". So, since Toriyama didn't plan Gohan to be in the movie, Beast Gohan was technically not made by him, and therefore, was not canon.
