Synopsis:
A comedy-drama starring Hugh Grant as Will, a rich, child-free and irresponsible Londoner in his thirties who, in search of available women, invents an imaginary son and starts attending single parent meetings. As a result of one of his liaisons, he meets Marcus, an odd 12-year-old boy with problems at school. Gradually, Will and Marcus become friends, and as Will teaches Marcus how to be a cool kid, Marcus helps Will to finally grow up.

This is why scenes like this stand the test of time. He knew what would happen, and then continued to take any humiliation away from the child and focus it all on him. At the same time, giving the child courage to carry on singing.

People think this is bad to worse, NO he was taking it off the kid and putting on himself. THAT is a man right there. Period.

About a Boy is my all-time favorite movie. It's funny and incredibly moving at the same time. This scene perfectly shows a man standing up for a boy and becoming more of a man himself. Hugh Grant is brilliant.

Hugh Grant plays everything so deadpan that sometimes I forget how phenomenal he is at comedic acting.

I grew up watching _About A Boy_ throughout my childhood on VHS and later got it on DVD which I still have today. It’s one of my all time favourite early-2000s British films and it’s still a good film to this day 22 years later after it’s released.

Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult were both brilliant together as Will and Marcus and it’s amazing that Nicholas Hoult went on to become a big Hollywood actor himself.

Beautiful movie. Two (plus 2 co-stars - Rachel and Toni) wonderful actors. And I get to see Nicholas grow as a fabulous actor. Thoroughly enjoy all his roles. Huge Hugh Grant fan.

I still can't believe the actor who played Marcus grew up to be such a beautiful man! ❤ We all go through our awkward stages 😅

It's such an under-the-radar movie. It's funny and moving and deals with real human struggles, but it leaves you with hope at the end. It's a real pick-me-up movie, good for watching if you are feeling down and one that is worth coming back to for a re-watch now and then.

I """died""" on stage as a child almost 62 years ago at the age of eight years old ---- that memory still sticks with me even after all these years later.

She’s not keen on him. She’s only keen on ME!

The most selfless act Will had ever committed. He absorbed the embarrassment by making a spectacle of himself to save Marcus' reputation.

The look Rachel Weisz pulls when Will tries to keep the song going is so great.
