Nice boots! Advice from Texas. Hats are worn with the front almost touching the eyebrows. Back on your head like that, is a giveaway that the wearer is a city girl.

I think wearing a hat and boots together does not make it look like a costume, but that’s when you actually know how to style the two together to make it not look like a costume because for me personally, I wear cowboy hats, cowboy boots, wranglers button down shirts, so if you know how to properly style, the two together doesn’t look like a costume because I live out in the country so a lot of people wear that stuff❤

I used to have about 4 western shirts, I don't find them kitschy at all, except the super over the top ones. They're kind of timeless in my opinion haha. (I got rid of them when I downsized because they didn't fit me anymore but I wish I still had them!)

Yes to fringe! This is a great video and much needed on youtube. I wore western-wear much more in the 1970s-80s when I lived in Colorado than I do now that I'm in Texas, but I've just purchased my second Stetson hat and I still wear cowboy boots ALL the time. They are perhaps THE most comfortable footwear in the world. I agree that it's super easy to go a bit over the top where it looks costume-y, but I do so love the western shirts, the boots, the hats...all of it. I'm of an age now where I don't really care what other people think anyway, so if it makes me happy, I'm going for it. Thanks for the video!

What we really wear in the West, Wrangler boot cut or work jeans, square toed boots, a t shirt, a wider leather belt with a fancier belt buckle (props if you won it at a Rodeo or a county fair) and more usually, a ball cap.

Jodhpurs are for English style riders, NOT western wear. Solid colors look much better, than prints. Wear straight leg or bootcut jeans, with cowboy boots. Get your jeans 2" longer than normal. That is how you wear them, in Texas. Skinny jeans do NOT go with cowboy boots.

Great video. Advice from a Texas girl...wear your hat level on your head, not tilted back. Wearing it level takes the costume look away. The hat is meant to shield your face from the sun, so it looks more authentic.

California country girl here. Telling people Luchese boots are the ones to have is like telling people they need to buy Jimmy Choo heels. Most of us have a pair of working boots Ariat, Tony Lama, Justin. Square toes boots are the most popular for daily wear. The pointy toe boot is mostly used like a high heel dress shoe option.

Ik foreigners use our culture as a fashion statement and there isn’t anything wrong with it but our clothing, boots and hats have practical applications, nothing is the way it is for looks for the most part it’s function over form and appearance is secondary. So if you see a guy or gal that actually lives that life wearing their gear a certain way then they have a practical reason for it

Also the “cowboy” thing we just call them boots and hats the cowboy/cowgirl is the individual wearing it not the equipment itself

I found a pair of authentic pair of cowgirl boots in a second hand store for only $15. So far, I've only worn them for Hallowee, but you've given me several great ideas to incorporate these babies into my wardrobe! Thanks!
