In my personal headcannon. The cannibal was intended for Maegor, but since Maegor wanted Balerion. He spurned it, and allowed it to roam across the blackwater. Thus allowing sheepstealer and grey ghost to eventually go wild after cannibal raided the nest for easy meals. Idk but i like it.

1:40 this is an error Meleys first rider was Alyssa Targaeryan so that means Caraxes was only 5 years older than Meleys.

I doubt Dreamfyre was that big, century old or not. Rhaenys stated that the dragons of the Blacks were larger than any dragon controlled by the Greens aside from Vhagar, and Dreamfyre was ridden by Queen Helaena at the time. Rhaenys probably wasn't counting smaller Black dragons like Vermax or Stormcloud (since they were ridden by Rhaenyra's sons, and the queen didn't want them to fight at all), but that would still put Dreamfyre as smaller than Caraxes, Meleys, and Syrax. Syrax was also noted to be a "huge and formidable beast, " who Rhaenyra flew often and kept at Dragonstone, and so was probably much larger than other dragons of her age.

I never realised Drogon was as small as he was in comparison to the majority of the other Targaryen dragons. I also never realised just how big Sheepstealer was.

Meleys didn't hatch in Rhaenys cradle, she was claimed by Viserys's and Daemon's mother, she is atleast as old as Caraxes.

Pretty sure if the Cannibal was bigger than the black dread it would have been remarked upon in the books. I always assumed it was big, but nowhere near Vhagar's size.

What do you think happened to Balerion's body when he died? Did they just let him rot? (Can you imagine the smell of a rotting dragon that big?) Did they cut off his head and let the other dragons feast on his flesh? (Or let one particular dragon eat him? i.e. the Cannibal)

From what I've gathered, a dragon's size is mainly determined by their age, diet, and environment. But I'd also argue that their growth rate slows down once they've reached maturity. Similar to other large animals that constantly grow throughout their lifetime, like elephants and blue whales.
