Back in the early 2000s I used to work for a fisherman named Bob Mehsikomer, he had a fishing show named Simply Fishing. His goal was to catch 100 muskies over 50 inches. I'm sure he has reached his goal. Probably one of the best fishermen i have ever met. Musky are powerful creatures.

The musky is definitely not the hardest fish on the planet to land. If you travel down the rabbit hole of obscure species there’s some insanely difficult ones out there. Take for instance the Creek Chubsucker. An insanely spooky and wary fish that resides in swamps. You need a minuscule piece of bait on a hook smaller than the head of a pin. They tap extremely light at your bait so the only good way to go for them is sight fishing them with a fly rod. Even snagging them is not really an option because they aren’t extremely large or common at all.

I’ve actually seen a musky swimming with it’s head out of the water which is very rare and probably a once in a lifetime thing for me

it helps to fish in an area that is known to have musky, and you definitely need the right lures, while they will bite a lure meant for bass, lures designed for muskies will work a lot better

Bass fisherman with a senko, that’s how I got mine. Brought a 40” in with 8lb line on a wacky rig and somehow didn’t lose it.

Here in PA if you wanna catch one just fish a dam outlet. They stack up in there in the spring throw something that looks remotely fish like or a big sucker and hold on because one of them is gonna bite. Its not uncommon to get a bite an hour doing that.
