Another thing is when you get fired during a probationary period, in most cases they don't even give you a reason. If anything at all they'll be real vague and just say oh you're not performing to our expectations and as of today your services are no longer needed. A lot of times if a person is having trouble during the probationary period they don't usually like to give you feedback on how you're doing so you can get a chance to improve before they decide whether or not to let you go. But if a person has trouble after the probationary period they usually give you feedback on your performance so you can get a chance to improve before they decide whether or not to terminate you.

At Will means that there is no contract between you and your employer.? Yes that is quite obvious. They always try to make that law sound fair, but it's not fair because the EMPLOYER doesn't need a job. The EMPLOYEE does need one to survive. Furthermore, it opens windows for sadistic people to actually black ball others so that he or she will not get a job some where else. All they need is a social security number. At will employment is an enslaving mechanism that is being utilized to control the masses, and it needs to be stopped!

I've also heard if a boss tries to make you do something that's illegal to do or not to do, and you decline to do it or not do it, they can still fire you and not be held liable. Is this true? I'm in California btw

At will employment goes both ways. Your boss can fire you without reason or a warning. However, if ur boss gives you a reason it can't be discriminatory, jury duty, or medical reasoning. The other way, employee can quit without doing or giving a two week notice.
