What's it like playing the PS4 Pro on an Ultrawide 21:9 monitor? I put it to the test by hooking up the new PS4 Pro with the ASUS PG348Q ultrawide to find out how it works.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad Sony didn't consider anything in between 1080P and 4K resolutions. But I learned not to expect much from a company who also doesn't allow their flagship headsets to work with their top gaming system either.

Do another video showing "The Order: 1886". That game as a 21:9 aspect ratio

GUYS I did some research and there was recently a new system software update on ps4 that allows ultrawide screens to have a better view. It's not gonna stretch it, it's gonna make it without black bars and you will be a able to see more than 16:9 ratio

Thank you for the clarification because I see that the PS4 Pro is lowering its price at some places.

I guess I will have to wait since I use the Acer Predator and though it would make a different with covering the whole screen. I guess not so I will be patient until Christmas if the price lowers even more.

My 1st gen ps4 switches to 21:9 automatically. I think it stretches so its not native ultrawide but no letter boxing, this goes for games too. I have the LG 29" 29UM58-P. I love it for as a monitor for my gaming display for my laptop and ps4. Best money ive spent in a long time.

"The age-old question of what happens when you plug a console into an ultra-wide monitor" - hee. Funny, for an "age-old question, " it almost never came up back in 1956 ...

Absolutely nice video. Very good presentation, clear and easy to understand. I had the doubt about a 21:9 monitor and Ps4 Pro. Now I know it is NOT what I need (I don't want to play wasting both sides of the screen!).
Thanks again,

I've been using my PS4 on my ultrawide for years now and I didn't even realise until recently that it was just stretched. I genuinely thought it had changed the aspect ratio automatically as the stretched mode was what my screen was set to by default the first time I plugged it in. My screen settings allow me to switch between stretched and non stretched though and I've known about that for ages, I just didn't know the stretched mode was literally just that, a stretched mode. Honestly, It looks better in my opinion stretched. I've played that way for years and I struggle to play PS4 on a 16:9 as easily as I used to anymore. To me, it just feels squished now and I find I actually play better on games with a stretched view. PC I still play normal but I get the full 21:9 ratio which is definitely superior in my opinion (can't wait to upgrade to 32:9 :D).
I would say maybe it's a trick of the mind situation that I play better on stretched as I didn't realise what was going on, kinda like a placebo effect but I did instantly feel like there was a good difference when I plugged it in and prefered it day 1 so that's a fast acting placebo tbf xD I've also always noticed the difference when I went between the PS4 stretched 16:9 and the PC 21:9 as though something wasn't quite right so I'm surprised I didn't learn this sooner but oh well. I'm completely happy playing on a stretched aspect ratio if that's how I feel comfortable playing but I may try getting used to 16:9 again as I want to move my PS4 over to my projector screen at some point anyway.
(Hoping the PS5 supports 21:9 properly though and maybe even 32:9 if I'm lucky)
My opinion anyway is:
21:9 > Stretched 16:9 ≥ 16:9

pls make a video on how ps4/ps4 pro works on 2k monitors. does it look good or blurry. is it upscaled from 1080p in ps4/ ps4 pro or downscaled from 2160p in ps4 pro (4k supported games). in either scenarios how good does it look?

tbh you really don't notice the letter boxing at all imo. I have a ultrawide acer predator and I never notice it. My eyes are fixed on the amazing quality, even at 1080p

NOT OF HELP for ultrawide screens on ps4 set it to wide and to reduce the stretch go in settings and reduce the display area all the way down it will reduce the stretch.

It’s not like the games can’t support it. Ps5 should if they want to be competitive

And people who bought 21:9 TV's back in 2012 are totally screwed.

i have been playing ps4 stretched out on ultrawide for couple of years now. after a week you wouldnt notice the difference. especially if you only have one monitor and nothing to compare. its really good for bf1 and blackops also project cars they all running very smooth and its not really bad after a week or two of stretching it. seriously just stretched it. you keep on comparing thats your problem. just like you, keep on comparing your girlfriend over other girls, i tell youll never be happy. just stretched it.

Thanks for the review and saving me money on not buying this monitor if my playstation 4 pro will not support the whole screen play.

The reason no 4k is because the monitor doesn't have hdmi 2.0 connections. Other ultra wides do so if you are planning on PS4 pro and Xbox one S gaming on ultra wide at 4k make sure they have the 2.0 cable connections.
