I went through Raleigh as a skinny 16 yr old back in 1997. I found it hard at the time but the thought of letting my family down who were so proud of me kept me going until passing out successfully - my division won the honour to walk out as the guard of our passing out parade (Pellew div)! From there joined HMS Boxer on her final deployment 9 months in the Middle East & Far East. After that went on to more deployments one in the Caribbean was amazing. I look back on my naval career with a mixture of happiness, pride & character building. For all the people either thinking of or are about to join - make sure your fitness levels are as high as possible, take on a mature & respectful attitude as you will need plenty of these attributes and more going through your initial training. GOOD LUCK & ADVANCE BRITANNIA 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

I'm currently at Raleigh and it's been enjoyable, hard at times yes but it's more enjoyable than hard.

Edit: Passed out 30/03/23!

Currently about to enter my 5th week. Genuinely enjoying it, better than I expected. Don't miss home at all!

That locker is twice the size of mine. Drake 19 1983. The greatest band of men ever to pass out of Raleigh 😊

Did my training at HMS RALEIGH IN 1965 in those days 16 weeks basic training, had a great time with the activities and meeting new people, all the best to those under training at moment and those wishing to join ⚓️

Was ships company here, 81 - 83, 85 - 86, 90 - 92 and 94 - 95 in the sickbay, when I left from here after completing my 22 yrs. Obviously the training curriculum has changed but it had whenever I return. Did my basic training at HMS Ganges in 73.

Went through in 1988 as a young 17 year old. In Anson Division. It made me and stayed with me for life. At the time it was hell, but I was remade and it was right.

Went through Raleigh in 85. Some things have certainly changed others less so. I enjoyed it.

Went through Raleigh as a 16 year old in 1998. Shock to the system, instructors were bastards back then. Hope it’s changed a bit

I went through RNR basic at Raleigh ten years ago. It gives you a sense of purpose and direction. It's tough, but rally round each other and you will get there!
