How to Build a Simple Router Sled for Flattening Boards and Slabs

Just a few pieces of 3/4 plywood and clamps and you can flatten any size board or slab without a thickness planer. This one is built to fit on a mobile table saw. I demonstrate the basics on how it's built, how to setup, and use.

My kind of work around, nice job. A spot of hot glue would help keep the shims and the board in place.

Hey there, thanks for the video! I startet to built one of my own and at some point I realized, my router-bit doesn't go low enough to reach below the base of the sled. Can't find an idea why or how to fix it. Are there longer bits one has to use with a sled? Or maybe I just got unlucky with my router? (got this one: Bosch Router POF 1400 ACE)

I would have cut the board down the middle, shim it in a sled and pass it through a thickness planer.
I just bought a Hercules thickness planer for $300 at Harbor Freight and found success using the planer sled.
