Learn about watches with Tim Mosso’s “Wake Up With Watches,” YouTube’s only curated gallery of luxury watches. The world leading WatchBox inventory of luxury preowned watches is at your disposal as Tim guides viewers through a selection of the best watch brands and watch models. Today’s star is the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 41 in stainless steel. In addition, this episode includes watches from A. Lange & Sohne to Zenith.

The 2017 Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra received the model’s most significant upgrades since the Aqua Terra model line debut at Baselworld 2002. This 41mm stainless steel Aqua Terra features many of the visual hallmarks of the upgraded watch including a smaller 41mm steel case, a “chrome” sunburst dial, revised “teak deck” dial strakes, a date that moves from three o’clock to six o’clock, and reduced crown guards. Omega includes an integrated vulcanized rubber strap that matches the blue tones of the Aqua Terra’s hands and hour indices.

Inside the case, Omega upgrades this Seamaster with a new Master Chronometer caliber 8900. Similar in architecture to the 8500 series, the 8900 remains an automatic winding movement with a 60-hour power reserve and a co-axial escapement. Changes come in the form of a new “Master Chronometer” certification – the METAS standard. Developed with the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, the new chronometer certification is more comprehensive than the older COSC test.

METAS-certified chronometers are tested as fully assembled watches rather than the COSC’s bare movements. And while the COSC tests in five positions, the Master Chronometer test involves all six standard timing postures. Moreover, the METAS standard tests shock resistance, magnetic resistance, winding efficiency, and power reserve.

Additional features add to the overall refinement of this Omega Seamaster. The Aqua Terra 41 includes 150-meter water resistance, a silicon hairspring that resists even industrial magnetic fields, hacking seconds, and an hour jumper that allows adjustment of the hour hand without stopping or displacing the other hands. A sapphire display caseback ensures that the owner will be able to enjoy the sight of Omega caliber 8900 at any time.

I’ve always liked the blue Aqua Terra but that grey one is absolutely beautiful-perhaps even better than the blue one!

I bought this watch. It looks so modern and makes you feel younger with the cool-looking blue Aqua Terra.

Wow, so many nice watches. The 36mm Datejust looks stunning. H. Moser always have different and interesting aesthetics but the Zenith Bamford was also one that stood out aesthetically to me along with the Lange movement - wish they did a ‘Reverso’ where you could flip the watch over on wrist to admire the movement.

6:37 As the owner of a 414.MX.1138.RX myself I can call BS on Hublot's 900HV claim for Magic Gold. It scratches a little less than titanium but that's it. Don't trust me? Check around available timepieces for sale and confirm that they aren't as prestine as ceramic ones but more closely scratched as titanium. And because we think we're handling a 900HV watch and it is so close to 1100HV (ceramic) then we just toss the thing around and then these scrapes start to show. I sent it for Hublot for re-polish, which they did at no cost but now don't treat it as carelessly as I do with my ceramic or sapphire-cased watches.

Great theme, great show! Right up front, that VC Overseas is a winner, I can't see why anyone would prefer a 5711 to this piece. Nice to see Sinn recognized here too. I find that your version of the U1 nicer then the regular U1. And the Zenith (daytona) is a winner with it's use of the bezel
to make the chrono readable instead of wasting it on a tachemeter scale.
Always nice to see the Moser Streamliner too. Guess I'd wear about any of today's selection, even the Hublot.

As soon as you see the Chronomaster Sport at any angle other than face on, you see the differences between this and a Daytona. I'd go Zenith by a long mile!

That Streamliner continues to be the one of the most interesting and unique offerings from anyone in the last 2 years for me.

That green Sinn... so intense... it reminds me of a correctly-proportionated Grand Seiko chrono.
