Saved By the Bell 2020: Will SCREECH Return? (Exclusive)

‘Saved By the Bell’ star and producer Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and showrunner Tracey Wigfield open up to ET’s Deidre Behar about whether Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in the original series, will return for the revival. Wigfield also reveals which props and recognizable mementos will be teased as Easter eggs. Original castmates Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Lark Voorhies were previously confirmed to appear in the new series, which starts streaming Nov. 25 on Peacock.

It’s funny because Dustin was in every single episode. From miss bliss, through new class and college years. It’s weird to see slater and Jessie be the stars now. Especially Mario since it seems like he never really cared about the show. Money talks.

I can understand Mr Belding's absence, he'd be in his late 60's or early 70's now so there is a chance that he's retired, hence the new younger principal played by newcomer. John Michael Higgins, who's known for such movies as Blade: Trinity and Pitch Perfect. There's no reason why Screech can't return for this sequel.

I know a lot of you are saying screech did this to himself however a lot of you are not trying to see his point of view, I believe even the person who played Mr. Belding has said he remember seeing Dustin being left out of a lot of things when the cast would get together and hang out him being the youngest of the cast had a lot to play in it he wasn’t as mature as the rest of the cast yet and more isolated in a way in teen years a couple years can make a huge difference and it most likely effected him a lot mentally being a child star on top of all of that and feeling alone he prob went to drinking and drugs to fill this void and led down the wrong path, childhood trauma never leaves no matter how old you are I don’t think he was a bad guy and he has sense apologized for it but I feel he was just hurt, on drugs and this was his way of letting his feelings out
