I like that you come to this with the same zeal for rhythmic creativity as Frank...

Dan this was awesome. You have improved by leaps and bounds since your last Zappa jam - this is the mark of a great musician. Keep it up!

Great interpretation Dan. You looked really in the zone there, living it, as it were. Well done!

Man I'd love to hear your jamming on Watermelon in Easter Hay 🤯

Thanks Dan! I have introduced this song to at least half a dozen guitar players over the years, and every one of them learned how to play it, thanks for keeping that trend alive!

Nice one Mr. Daniel “Frank” Berg. You are really getting better with each jam.

Yeah Dan, I use c# minor pentatonic and c# natural minor ( aeolian ), that’s how I view it, fyi, muffin man and watermelon in Easter hay are both in the key of E major ( which is the same as c# natural minor) so the same scales are used for all 3 songs, the trick is to make muffin man sound like muffin man, black napkins sound like black napkins, etc, and that is to phrase on the correct notes, so even though the scales used for all 3 songs are the same, the notes you phrase on are not

Dan, I like that very much! How about Muffin man next time?

Nice Dan. I've been practicing this tune lately myself. You got beautiful tone going here. Can you tell us what is your set-up? Your evolving admiration of FZ has been cool to watch.

Such a great jam progression, yet only two chords, C#min7, to Dmaj7.

Nice try Dan, I appreciate the fact that you would even try to improv over Zappa, I could not count how many times I did it, c#minor 7 to d major 7, since those 2 chords are not diatonic to any one key, do you know the formula for figuring out what key signature is the appropriate one? I do, Steve vai says it is E major, and that is true, however it’s my opinion that frank was viewing this as c# minor pentatonic and c# aeolian
