I've done this many times at work or for friends. It takes practice (or youth) to lift with one foot while keeping the body straight, but the reactions are great. A spooky setting or crazed demeanor (Blaine's good at this--you assume he's a nut-job) makes the audience more susceptible.

You gotta do better than this. David Blaine has done it multiple times to the shock of onlookers. If all he was doing was stepping on the tips of his toes on one foot he wouldn't get as high as he did, much less cause people to freak out and run away. I'm not saying he really did it. But, your explanation doesn't hold up.

I saw magician few years ago, he did magic on streets. He did not levitate, but instead he slowly went downwards THROUGH the sidewalk until he was gone. We wondered where the man disappeared to then he opened up the window 3 floors above us. It was very creepy.

I did this in a grocery store waiting for a friend.
Sitting on a bench, there was a boy and little girl holding a baby.
When I "ascended" she dropped the baby.
I felt awful.
Everything was okay, though.

David levitated by wire on the streets was by wire on a crane of course it was trick by camera you see there was several paid actors and helpers to make David's trick look so good there was many bloopers as well where they went wrong David had to slow down and stop because the tricks was getting too scary for him many occasions he nearly died doing outside performances like being wedge between two ice blocks

I remember when davif Blaine Supposedly " walked on the River Thames in london and the boat that picked him up hit the platform he walked on and got stuck.but of course they edited that part out of his release video.That must of been humiliated to him...
