Peterson was charged with assaulting a police officer. The charge was dropped and later reinstated - after Peterson filed a $200 million lawsuit against Woodhaven PD and 33rd District Court, saying he was assaulted by police, wrongfully arrested, and maliciously prosecuted.

Dropped the fraudulent charges...he sues...they respond by reinstating same charges they know are false.
Says everything about a department handilng, deciding your freedom.
Doesn't matter if there's a long standing, short standing whatever between them and him.
Dropping charges, then reenstatement over a civil situation, says....
That everyone in that community should be concerned for their rights.

Woodhaven is a small community of less than 13, 000 people and I am certain there is more to the story. The police in most all of these Downriver towns focus largely on keeping their citizens safe. There are all races living in these areas. I grew nearby, went to school in Woodhaven, came back home after years being away and a lot of friends still live in this area. If you aren't from here you wouldn't know because these towns are south of Detroit. A lot of what the police deal with in this area are car crashes on I-75 going North or South because the traffic moves very fast and there is a lot of it. It is about 45 min North of the Ohio border and about 20 mins west of Lake Erie overlooking Canada just across the Lake. They are quiet, communities where people go about their business, work hard to take care of their families, and have lived in this area as previous generations of family members. There is a lot of traffic as there are factories nearby producing F-150's and Mustangs. Mazda and GM have factories in the surrounding areas as well.
