Traktor KONTROL Z2 First Look

The brand new Traktor Z2 DJ 2+2 Mixer, soundcard and controller from Native Instruments. We had a visit from the NI team on their way to BPM and they gave us the lowdown on their first pro DJ club mixer hardware.

I actually drop this mixer on concrete on the street on the face plate before a wedding gig and it still worked like I got in the box new. This thing is a beast!!!

they are the same in that they both continue playback and when you shut them off it goes to where the song would be, but the differ by this: on the beatmasher2, you can't layer effects over it, flux mode looping lets you continue layering on top of it

the intended use is not for standalone though it does suport it. The reason this is better than an S4 is the size is more like a traditional mixer. Also clubs could instal this and cater to djs who use traktor or cdj/turntables in standalone mode. Also a benefit to using this or a S4 is you can run analogue sources and use traktors effects.

yes but with no transport controls you would need your mouse to hit play/pause. it would be a good idea to have an x1 + kontrol stand right next to it for play/pause + 2 x 4 knob fx and maybe throw in some F1 + Kontrol stands with it to control remix decks.

The faceplate is attached via magnets, changing faders should be very easy to do.

I'm guessing NI have invented a crossfader that never wears out.. doesn't look like you can replace this one very easily

on my traktor 2.6 looping does not work in flux mode

it doesn't work with the mouse. you have to midi map the looping control.

i'm sorry for being negative but this seems like a stupid idea to me... if you need a standalone mixer, this is stricly a 2 channel mixer buttons do nothing... if you need a traktor control why not get the s2/s4 and have the added buttons and surfaces for more creative control? this is pointless...
