That's why Stan was the Man. Met him once and he was very gracious to my family and myself.

This All Star Game was tied in the bottom of the ninth inning. Stan Musial and Willie Mays were getting ready to bat. Willie Mays was standing in the dugout with Hank Aaron when Stan Musial walked by and told them, "I don't get paid for overtime." He hit a home run to end the game.

Classy men, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Frank Robinson, etc. Stan was gracious and knew about baby steps. Bravo!

The color barrier throughout society was worn down in great strides and in tiny steps. What a crew of stars! What a great act of Musial.

I grew up a few blocks from Sportsman’s Park. As kids we would take our baseballs to the players entrance and Stan would pull up and park. He’d stop and talk to us kids and sign balls. I probably had 5-6 balls signed by Stan. Truly a very humble man.

I met Stan once when I was a kid at his restaurant in St Louis. My Dad knew him as he had hung the wall paper in the dining room. I was too young to know or appreciate him, but he was a gracious person

There were 2 people in particular that Ted Williams (who I'm named after) held in the highest esteem. Bob Feller + Stan The Man Musial. I think Ted kind of admired the grace + dignity that Mr. Musial + Mr. Feller carried themselves with. He was gruff growing up a latch key kid. Mr. M had a quiet dignity and so did Feller.

I can’t say this surprised me…Mr. Musial had many distinguishing characteristics and throughout his life he never lost his joyful personality…what a great Cardinal and St. Louisan. And, coming up through an organization that included Branch Rickey in its history, Mr. Musial was certainly an extension of his beliefs about race in Sports🇺🇸🇺🇸.

I love baseball stories from this era..I believe the best baseball ever played.
I saw these guys play when I was a kid. They were my heros.
Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Robinson, Banks, Richie Allen, Oliva, I could go on for hours, but you get it.
I just wanna say. Tony C got cheated by an unfortunate knockdown.
He would have been there with these great stars as well

I met stan one time. I was picking up a baseball glove specifically made for my hands at a sporting manufacturer in the sunset hills area near st. Louis. I paid for the glove and was talking to the receptionist about cardinals baseball. She asked if i only knew the current players or did i know any of the older players. Being a cardinals fan my whole life EVERYONE IN ST. LOUIS knows the older players. So i started naming off so many players she stopped me and said how would you like to meet the first guy you mentioned. I looked at her and said "do you mean the MAN" She saw the look on my face and said "yes". I told her hopefully someday. And that would be awesome. She yelled down the hall "Hey, stan can you spare a minute". I heard someone say sure. Stan musial walked down the hall to meet ME!!! I literally couldn't stop shaking. He saw my nervousness and talked to me in such a kind and caring way. He asked me about my new glove and about what positions i played and the name of the teams i played for. (i was playing on multiple teams at the time) mr musial spent a good 30 minutes talking to me and after about 5 minutes i forgot he was a hall of famer and the greatest cardinals player ever. He was just a guy talking baseball. St. Louis lost a gem and the world lost a great, kind person, when stan the man finally got called to bat in heaven. Baseball and all of cardinals nation miss you stan. And Thanks again for putting a young guys nervousness at ease and just being a kind person.
