Yes the 6AL5s are used as rectifier but not necessarily for just a power supply. I don't have the wiring diagram so it hard to say. I need a 1600WVDC capacitor and I don't have one. So it looks like I am going to have to combine a few capacitors tother and make one, might be a good video.

The old test equipment can still be very useful. And I just like old VTVM's, that are great for some of my videos. You see the trend in a change better, but of course it is harder to get a precise measurement.

Oh you are absolutely correct. My job in the USAF was repair of Instrument Indicating Systems. When I am looking at a metered device that I want to buy I always give it a twist to see if the meter movement moves freely. I have been doing this so long I don’t even think about it. Thank for commenting on a very important aspect of testing a meter movement.
