I drove the causeway northbound at 6 am. They had shut down the southbound as I neared the edge of the bridge. Few cars and the smoke was thick in places. Fortunately nobody was speeding through it

This is just horrible. God bless the victims and their families.

I drive this stretch of I-55 often. And I must say on a normal day too many people drive like Reckless A**holes!
Complete disregard.
People are flying past me cutting in and out of lanes at easily 90+mph. EASILY!
You must take into consideration the elements like rain or fog. And slow down.
It's not worth your life or someone else's life who's actually being careful.😢 SAD

This freaking bridge! No shoulder to park in case you need to pull over...Unsafe as hell like most USA bridges. And why there's NO warning signs in heavy fog?😢🤯🤯

Fog was really bad, plus the smoke was stifling.
Was quite the thing to witness....

As ALWAYS blame SOMETHING else for human errors. Fog RAIN OTHERS.
THE drivers THAT we're caught in this fog. THE end result shows THAT speed WAS NOT reduced by
THE humans divers.
Common sense tells You IN A heavy stormy rain fog in a car moving You have to reduce speed You are blind AND can only see a wall OF fog OR rain.
Ah but no. Some humans keep going like nothing IS happening. MANY DRIVERS. Drive like if they we're An ambulance fire truck rescue police in An emergency. They crash ln a woderful sun shinning day.
Well THERE You have THE end result.
