The fact that so many minors were involved is disturbing. We obviously have surging crime & a battle over how law enforcement & the legal system are to be implemented & executed as some want to eradicate the police & jails while other want stricter enforcement. Coddling the criminals is only incentivizing them to be bolder & more brazen as we have sadly seen. We cannot arrest our way out of the problem but we also have to really tackle the root causes. This will take a lot of political will, money, sacrifice & hard work but our society is infected.

We have so many people who are willing to commit terrible crimes as they exploit others & profit off of the suffering of good & law abiding citizens. It’s sickening. Why is that? This is only for the crimes we know about that are actually reported because we know hundreds if not thousands of crimes go unreported & criminals go scott-free. We seem to have a real issue with values. So many people don’t want to invest their time & energy in education or work hard at their jobs but would rather take the easy & immoral way out by committing crime. We have to ask ourselves why are so many people especially young people willing to risk their freedom & lives to commit crimes & hurt others? The incentives to commit crime have to be perceived to be better than the alternative. It’s sad & disturbing that people don’t even think about heir own conscience & morals or victim’s feelings in regards to crime. That is, we have strayed so far away from strong positive values & basic decency that they are an afterthought. It used to be that people had a conscience & they didn’t only think in terms of doing something bad because they could be caught or punished but didn’t commit crimes because they knew it was intrinsically wrong & it had real effects on the victims.

Criminals are so self-centered now that I believe they only think in terms of getting caught & the possible punishment when deciding their course of action. I am not a religious fanatic nor a advocate of having nuclear families as families can be good families regardless of structure but we need to start at the most basic level. We have a serious problem with values, parenting & mentoring. It’s sad to see so many young lids going down the wrong path & choosing crime. We also cannot rely on the government to solve all of our problems. That’s another issue plaguing our society. Too many have become dependent on the government & politicians who don’t have our best interests in mind.

While crime is rampant & things are bleak I do know that there are more good people out there than bad. We have to fix our society which is sick & strengthen our communities which have lost their fabric. I don’t know why it seems like the US which is wealthy & prosperous has such serious crime issues that other countries don’t endure or why we have 25% of the world’s total prison population despite having only 5% of the globe’s total population but we have serious cultural, legal & penal issues that have to be worked on at the micro level all the way up to the more macro levels. That is we need to work on these things starting with individuals & families up to communities & all the way up to entities like the government.

The status quo seems to only enable criminals. People should want to do the right thing because it’s moral & the right thing & besides, it’s so much easier to be kind. I got a speeding ticket & had to pay my lawyer a few thousand in fees to help me with it but still got points on my license & had to pay New York state “driver asessment” fees. Not to mention I had to waste time by going to the court appointment & I think it raised my insurance. Anyway, it was only a speeding ticket & it was costly. For those committing serious crimes, I don’t get how they aren’t incentivized to not do bad crimes purely from an economic standpoint - it’s costly. That’s not even taking losing your freedom possibly or the ethical implications into consideration.

Also, how can we expect ex-cons not to reoffend if they cannot get jobs though. The bleeding heart hypocrites should not only talk the talk but walk the walk by hiring more ex-convicts. I don’t know if this would be possible but maybe we need to have more severe punishments but also greater ways to rehabilitate & repay. Maybe people’s housing & assistance could be docked or suspended if they reoffend - that would probably prevent a lot of recidivism. We do need ways for people who really want to get back on track be able to get good rehabilitation like job skills & assistance so they can be productive members of society though. Once people are convicted & have to start from ground zero, it’s really hard which is why they resort back to crime.

We have to stop this vicious cycle. The sad fact is though, that it takes years & a lot of effort to change even small things & until there is greater political will & more public concern about this, things will continue to be flawed & dysfunctional as they are now. Sadly things will get worse before they get better. The philosophies of the two extremes in our political landscape regarding crime & how we handle it don’t work. Coddling criminals enables them & draconian laws with egregious sentences is not only cruel & unusual punishment but is basically state sanctioned slave labor & the warehousing of criminals. We are the freaking US with the most inventive & industrious minds backed by prosperity & wealth. We cannot have a severe legal system like Singapore or the Philippines who actually execute drug users nor a corrupt one like we see in 3rd world countries. Our country doesn’t have the stomach or political will to have a more tolerant & permissive legal system as seen in Europe. Many would be shocked to learn how well criminals are treated in some countries where their prisons are more like dorms & they are allowed to keep working & the state really tries to help rehabilitate them into law abiding citizens. We cannot keep the status quo which only changes with hysterical knee-jerk reactions that change things usually for the worse. Our legal system is dysfuctional but profitable which is a big part of the problem. We need change & we need to reduce crime & the number of criminals.

Before you open any business the first thing you should have set up is something that's going to capture or kill any criminals who try to attack your business. And something in place for anybody who tries to burn down your business. I don't know why if these are the main 2 major worries why do business owners always try to address them last.

$58, 000 translates to 3 pairs of "high-end" shoes, and 7 purses. In other news, Neiman Marcus wrote off the goods as stolen but still received the returned merchandise which they sold anyway. Meanwhile, the real crooks laugh all the way to the next island where they have underage sex-traffic waiting for them and their gifts.

When a person let he’s dog and it bites people, owner goes to jail. The same should apply to parents of minor who commit felony. If you neglect your kids, you should take the fault. If you are incapable of discipline them, surrender custody to someone who can do the job.

some have much, some have little. some should be taken from those that have much, and given to those that have little. this way everyone is equal and fair to everyone.

Surely they did this to pay for college right? Jokes aside, they think they can get away with this like they do in LA but this is OC. Let's see some justice.
