When the best shops were record shops

In my youth, record shops were where I used to spend a lot of my free time. I collected records and used to buy them every week. Record collecting was my thing and there were many shops that I used to buy records from. #nostalgia

Thanks for mentioning Jotcham’s record shop James, oh i remember buying loads of singles and albums from there, I agree record shops were always places I loved frequenting wherever I went, but alas times have changed and those shops closed down, I know vinyl has had a resurgence in recent years but the price of an album now is quite staggering, and also the records are now a lot heavier too, but all in all I guess there’s nothing quite like them, thanks for another good video James, keep em’ coming! 😁👍

I used have a circuit of record and cd stores in Norwich that I used to frequent in the early 90s and also one in Cambridge late 90s. They also had cool t-shirts and sometimes posters. Sadly all gone. There’s no fun buying music unless it’s from a record shop.
It was also a treat going to Piccadilly’s Tower Records as they had imports and even the giant HMV on Oxford street would have a good stock of uncommon titles. It was exciting shopping in that way and perhaps one of many reasons why high streets are dying.

I loved to visit our local record shop ! And I miss them now, having said that, I certainly wouldn't be visiting one to purchase any new music that comes out now, for me, good music and bands ended with the 80's bar a few odd sounds from the early to mid 90's but they were few and far between, the while music industry has changed, and not for the better as far as Im concerned ! But have you noticed just how many great songs from the 80's and earlier are used as sound tracks for tv ads, programs etc, albeit not usually the original ?! That tells you something doesn't it ?!!🤔🤣
