When I was giving birth to my son in 1971 I suffered a pulmonary embolism. I was on birth control pills prior to getting pregnant. My life was saved, it was at University hospital in Seattle, Washington. I was told they almost lost me but the hospital was equipped to handle this sort horrific event. Eternally grateful my life was saved. My son is now 50 and very healthy. I turned 81 in July. Thank God I survived to see my amazing son grow and thrive.

Second, the blood system could tell us everything about what is going on in the body. Imagine for example that we have special devices or special cells designed to tell us what is going on in the parts of the body. It is a kind of monitoring device which could signal if some proteins are wrong or insufficient that would tell the doctor everything about the health of a patient. That means the right diagnosis, which means the right health treatment program. It is a very exciting channel you have, Doctor. Thank you very much!!!

In 2015 I woke up just feeling quite anxious and felt like I needed an inhaler but I had a feeling something wasn’t right so I rang my GP and she told me to go up to be checked out. My pulse was Skye high and she sent me up to a&e just to be checked out.
I felt absolutely fine while having tests but my D-Dimer came up off the scale and the CT scan they did showed up both my lungs where absolutely chockablock full of blood clots and a large clot in my main heart valve. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing and kept me in overnight for observation and injections of blood thinners.
Unfortunately I collapsed the next morning walking back from the bathroom and everything was crazy around me, I was dying and they were working on me while rushing me to ICU. I could hear them saying we are losing her and it was really traumatic and terrifying.
They had to put a central line in my neck which was very painful as my body was closing down.
They brought my husband, Children and parents into say goodbye to me as they said with the extent of how many blood clots I had they didn’t expect me to survive the night.
I spent a month critically ill fighting for my life in ICU and then another 3wks on a ward but by the amazing care I got from all the medical teams and by the Grace of God I pulled through! The consultants couldn’t believe I survived them! My pulmonary embolisms were unprovoked and I’m a lifer on a really great drug called Apixaban ( blood thinner) as I’m high risk for more.
Please always listen to your body and if something doesn’t feel right get it checked out because if I hadn’t that day I would have died that evening…

Thank you so much for this upload. It certainly is frightening to hear those Statistics.. and since the first hospital I presented to with my rapid AF sent me home, only to be diagnosed the next day with a Pulmonary Embolus, I thank my lucky stars! Listen to your own body and if you know something is not right get that second opinion.

I love the way you did this video. This is very informative for those not in the medical field. (Could you do all your videos this way? Thank you.)

A friend was admitted to ICU (uk hospital) in 2020 with a blood clot. The Doctor told him that he would probably not survive the night and was on a DNR order. ( no one gave them permission to do that) His family immediately had the DNR removed. He survived the night and last weekend he was on a golfing holiday. A lot went on during the early C….d years that we still don’t know about.

Is it because patients are laid down in hospital beds for days on end?

Thank you! A great teacher, focusing on teaching rather than causes, even though we should look at those to in these times. But to be honest I expected half the video to be about how bad smoking is and how bad fat people are. Refreshing!

I got DVT in 2007. We had a cat scan 8 months later that showed no blood flow in my deep vein. My vascular surgeon put me on warfarin for life. So far no other blood clot in going on 13 years. My inr is up and down all the time. One time I’m 1.4 next time 2.1. It occlusive. But I’m here.

I had a dvt in left knee, PE in lower left calf, more than 20 PEs in both lungs in 2016. I just did make it to er for help in time before both lungs collapsed and filled with fluid. Was told I'd probably not make it! But I prayed !!! Was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my 46 years.2nd day I developed PNEUMONIA. Was very I'll! Couldn't walk after this happened for almost 14mths. . Was sent home with hospice ( which i refused( IGNORANT of me) i was determined to live and walk again. My question is they couldn't find out the reason why this happened and i still dont know just told to continue taking blood thinners the rest of my life for prevention. It has been physically and mentally exhausting. I thank GOD he answered my prayers that morning ! And i can walk again.. could black mold aspergillus have caused this?

@Dr.JohnCambell - Three people in my family have Factor V Leiden. Is there any data or information on how COVID clotting impacts people with pre-existing clotting disorders?
