Some tips on how to deal with the fridge:

-Focus on what can you do, avoid becoming frustrated, encourage your partner.
-Observe, speak more, give helpful information about your opponents.
-Help your partner by making his side of the court smaller by moving towards the middle.
-Cover the net when receiving smashes so your partner can cover the back and rest.
-When you eventually get a ball, don't overplay and try to play a winner (unless it's a clear opportunity).
-Play diagonally, especially with lobs, so it's more difficult for your opponents to play to your partner.
-When you would normally take the net, you can stay behind so your opponents might play on you instead of your partner, who is at the net (but don't open up diagonal lines).
-If they then lob your partner, you can cover behind him as well (just be aware that your side is open, so play accordingly).

-Your partner (who is not in the fridge) has to play with quality to get out of the situation, as he has to play some more difficult shot. It's not always easy.
-Your partner should play down the line, especially lobs with high quality.
-Your partner should go to the net, with you staying at the back, so they might lob or play to you more often.
-Your partner should still play diagonally when he gets a good opportunity to put pressure on your opponents, especially if his best shot is a diagonal volley.
-When your partner has played diagonally, be ready to step in towards the middle to intercept with a quick volley if your opponents play the return diagonally.

Hope that helped.

The fridge is THE most frustrating part of padel. To be evenly matched with your partner is probably the most important thing. So they don’t get value by picking on one guy.

Great work my man. The Bajadas were super delicious.

This fridge tactic is super frustrating to watch, can't imagine what it was like for you.

Good luck in the next tournament!

Maan im really happy to see padel thriving in the uk, I have been playing padel for 17 years already and let me tell you, its all experience for the next tournament, i already see a lot of good advice in the comments so im just going to encourgae you to practice more and continue playing tornaments every time you can. Keep it up man and use the frustation of losing tournaments as motivation to get better for the next one, thats what i have been doing at least.

Really enjoyed these last two videos. Gives a good insight into some of my own fridge frustrations. Also great insight into the tournament ability at the different levels as it’s very tricky to peg your own level against these LTA tournament levels.
Keep em coming 💪

Love those coverages and the analytical critique right after and then after cooling down.

This style of videos is great for learning tactics!!!

Pietro must play straight lobs to force your cross player to play you. That’s the only tactic you can do in the fridge. And risk more of course.

Sorry about the black - 6:42 - just an editing error, you didn't miss a lot

Thanks for posting this, clearly not easy! I play in Spain, not sure quite at your level as I’m classed as a veteran, but I feel your pain on being placed in the frigadora! In a hard match when the tide is turning against you, when you realise you are barely getting the opportunity to touch the ball, you find yourself creeping out of your zone…and usually opening yourself up to a nice globo! I am enjoying your posts, good stuff, please continue - and good luck!

Loving this video format mate. We can learn a lot from analysing real games at a non pro level. Keep em coming. Good luck for the next tourney 🤙🏻

Would love to understand how your tactic evolves during the game. You describe very accurately what your opponents think but I don't see how you take advantage of that during the game. Great content!

A loss is not always terrible or negative. It's terrible when you lose to someone who you know is worse than you and your partner are.
Going into a match as the underdog has this weird energy of 'I have nothing to lose'. Me personally, I like to go into matches as a underdog.. or maybe I'm just getting used to it :DD
Nice padel and good analytic content <3 The W's will come :)

Amazing video. Well sometimes they play all the balls to us sometimes to our partners it happens. Maybe Pietro can play more parallel balls if they are playing all the balls to him. Great video editing the games seemed great. Keep playing you will win the next one and teach us how to do it :)

Fair play to Pietro man. That guy got focused for 2 games lasting more than an hour. Id imagine he felt bad and slept through it the whole day but man what endurance

Good stuff, man. There was about a 20 sec black screen around 06:42 but the video was pretty solid.

Also, I know videos like these don't get as much views as tutorials or racket reviews but I personally find them helpful and entertaining.

Keep it up!

I think it comes down to knowing more your partners and playing before together. Regarding the fridge, someone told me the best way to overcome it is the targeted person should play straight in front or in parallel to force the other to play across, but I'm no expert lol
Ps: Really enjoyed this type of content as well!
