Is the Honda CBR 600rr a Good Beginner Bike?

Is a 600cc motorcycle good for a beginner? It depends on your previous experience, if you have ridden dirtbikes before I would say going to a 600 like I did is very reasonable. If you have never ridden any kind of bike before, I would recommend starting on a 250cc motorcycle and if you can ride a smaller dirtbike first that would make the transition much easier.

One of the most intuitive post I’ve seen on this debate. We all know that this is a tuff subject. Everyone is different
and has different options of their own riding skills. That’s what makes it sketchy.

I agree with your advice. I have always been very active skating, kayaking, autoxing and big into mountain biking. But in my late 20's i still had never ridden a motorbike of any kind. So i got a f4i 600 as my first bike. Yes i learned to ride it quickly but the controls still took a while to feel natural as i have never ridden anything like it my whole life. But after 2 years i wanted to get more into handling corners as i live by a popular curvy road. So i sold cbr and got a ninja 250r. It made a world of difference in how comfortable i felt in the corners and i was able to advance my skills much faster than i could have ever done on the 600. I ended up trading it after a few years for a 650r loved the streetability and torque but mostly ride in corners so I needed a sportier bike with better suspension so I just recently got a 08 cbr600rr. Moral of the story is that anyone can learn to ride on a 600 or even a liter bike. But to really learn to ride well you should man up and ride a smaller bike until you can push it to its limits then move up. Most people on 600's on up could not even push a 250 near its limits cornering. I suggest learning an all the great 300's that are out now it will teach you the nature of riding so much better. But if you just ride to impress your friends than get the bike you want. Many decent 250-300cc riders can beat the majority of 600 riders i see on our cornering roads they are not slow, except in long straightaways but that is boring anyways.

I started out on a 1982 yamaha dt80. Rode dirtbikes for 10 years then got my 1st Street machine. A 74 honda cb450. 10 years later I'm on a cbr600rr and it's the most insane machine I've owned. 100+hp is no joke for a beginner.

Best video off all the “beginner bike videos”

He is so on point it’s unreal.

About everything, and the bit about this is the only bike you will need

Honda Cbr600rr is a great bike for everyone. 300 is too slow1000 is too fast and cbr600rr is just right lol. Plus it’s reliable as hell so you don’t have to worry about fixing it as much as any other brand. Look how they make the Cbr’s. They wear all white in their factories so when they get a smudge from somewhere it’s easy to find and then they take that bike apart and start rebuilding it again from the beginning. Check it out on YouTube people the guys who make the Honda CBr are amazing. Reliability is key with anything and the Honda cbr600rr is reliable as hell. Check out most reliable 600s and the cbr will be there. I have a 08 cbr and I love it. Even my buddy who sold it to me last year occasionally asks me to ride my cbr while we are just cruising around together, he rides a R6 now. So long story short cbr600rr all the way

5'6 140 lbs and my 07 cbr600rr I just bought is about perfect for me. The power is pretty jerky at any rpm if you dont be smooth with the throttle but it's easy to get use to. I just think the bike is a little on the rough side if u want a smooth cruise (get a cruiser). I do have to tip toe on both feet but the bike is shortest of 600cc I've sat on. I'm taking the msf course in 2 days. Sitting on a 11 gsxr 600 it was definitely taller and wider seat compared to my cbr and it also felt heavier. The r6 any year is even worst for shorter riders, anyone under 5'6 will have issues.

I think a good compromise might be a CBR 500, you won't get bored as quick, you can keep up better on the highway, yet more forgiving.

My first bike is my 05 CBR 600RR. It's a great beginner bike. I have riden a Yamaha R3 and it's not enough power for me and I would have pretty immediately wanted a 600. Now I want an Iron 1200.

I am 35 now. Despite of many opinion, I've bought CBR600F4i as my first bike when I've got my driving licence three years ago. I have never ridden before, only on 50ccm when I was young. I passed my driving licence exam on YBR250, the same as in the driving school.
Fortunately, I'm still alive and haven't any collision.
It is possible to ride CBR600 as the first bike. Obviously, the reason and don't overcoming your skills is the most important thing.
I'm going to join to a motorcycle training course.

Answers all my questions. Been on nothing but dirt bikes. Want to get into street wasn’t sure if a600 would be to difficult to learn the translation. Thanks for the info! I’ll keep my eye out for a cbr600 now.

I’ve been riding on the dirt road in front of my house for about 6-8 months. I started on a klr 250 then a 450 rebel then a 650 v star, riding my dad’s old bikes. Trying to decide if I want to make the step or not because I’ve really fallen in love with the look of this bike with the red and black fairings.

Awesome video!!!

I personally think the best bet is starting 300cc or lower (LEST you get a 2 cylinder 600). Four cylinder 600cc bikes will be 'manageable' but there are fundamental skills that a new rider should learn before they can really dominate a 600cc+ four cylinder - skills that are much more appropriate to learn on a lower cc or lower cylinder bike.

With that being said, check out my friend learning to ride on my CBR 600 on my channel haha
